Marie Millar 1928-2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Charlotte “Marie” Millar. Marie has been a resident of Saint Simeon’s Assisted Living Community for 23 years. In 2022, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Marie to reflect on her two decades at Saint Simeon’s, and her words capture the warmth and spirit she brought to our community.
“When you get the opportunity to sit down and speak with Marie, the first thing you notice is her spryness and sincerity when she speaks. Having been a Resident for 20 years, she has seen many interactions and transitions at Saint Simeon's. When asked about a favorite memory, Marie said, ‘It's hard for me to pinpoint a specific memory that is my favorite. It's the people. The relationships that I have made during my time here really stand out.’”
From managing the Peggy V. Helmrich Library to folding The Quill (Saint Simeon’s Newsletter) and knitting baby bonnets, Marie did it all for her love of volunteering and helping others. Marie made tremendous contributions to Western Days over the years, making hundreds of ever-popular dishcloths and scrubbies.
Originally from Canada, she traveled to the States with her late husband as he pursued his career in oil and gas. With stops in Michigan, California, and Ohio, they never imagined staying in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, but life is unpredictable. Marie's journey included many twists and turns, but we are grateful she made her way to Saint Simeon's and graced our hallways for the last 23 years.
