November is National Veterans and Military Families Month — a time to honor those who have served our country and the loved ones who stand beside them.

We’re proud to call many veterans and military family members part of our community. Their courage, strength, and stories continue to inspire us every day.

Please join us in thanking the men and women who have given so much for our freedom, and the families whose love and support make that service possible.

Romney Nesbitt, a Tulsa based artist, sketches veterans’ portraits because, in her words, “it’s my way of saying thank you for your service.” Her deep
appreciation for veterans began thirty years ago when she began volunteering at the Oklahoma Military History Center in Broken Arrow.

Pencil portraits are 9" x 12” and take fifteen minutes to complete.

As the leaves change color and the air turns cool, fall presents a wonderful opportunity to focus on health and well-being. We think every season offers unique ways to maintain and even improve your health.

Here are some tips to help you stay healthy and enjoy all that fall has to offer.

Enjoy Seasonal Produce
Fall brings so many delicious and nutritious fruits and vegetables like acorn squash, pumpkin, brussel sprouts, apples, pomegranates and so much more.

Stay Active with Fall Activities
Walking is a great way to stay active, and the beautiful fall scenery can make your walks more enjoyable.

Boost Your Immune System
As the weather changes, so does our exposure to colds and flu. Boosting your immune system is key to staying healthy during this time.

Stay Socially Connected
Social connections are vital for mental health, and fall offers many opportunities to stay engaged. Join us for our community events, such as movie nights, craft days, and book clubs.

Focus on Mental Wellness
As the days get shorter and we spend more time indoors, it’s important to focus on mental health. We offer a variety of wellness programs designed to support your mental and emotional well-being.

It’s 48°, gray, and the perfect excuse to make something warm and comforting.

Try a cinnamon steamer, spiced cider, or golden milk — little mugs of happiness you can make right at home.

Rainy days call for cozy rituals and warm drinks. Here are a few to try.

1. Cinnamon Vanilla Steamer
A caffeine-free classic. Warm milk (dairy or oat) with a dash of cinnamon, splash of vanilla extract, and drizzle of honey. It’s soothing, lightly sweet, and smells heavenly.

2. Spiced Apple Cider
Warm up apple cider with a cinnamon stick, a few whole cloves, and a pinch of nutmeg. Add a thin orange slice for a little extra flair — festive and great for fall!

3. Dark Chocolate Cocoa
Use real cocoa powder, a touch of maple syrup, and warm milk for a rich but not-too-sweet treat. Top with a dollop of whipped cream or a few mini marshmallows.

4. Chamomile or Peppermint Tea Latte
Brew the tea strong, then add a bit of warm frothed milk and honey. It’s calming for the mind and gentle on digestion — perfect for evenings.

5. Golden Milk (Turmeric Latte)
Made with milk, turmeric, cinnamon, and honey — it’s beautiful, anti-inflammatory, and perfect for joint comfort and warmth.

6. Warm Citrus Toddy (Non-Alcoholic)
Heat water with orange slices, lemon juice, honey, and a cinnamon stick. Comforting, immune-supporting, and bright-tasting for chilly days.

We understand that making the transition to assisted living is one of life’s most personal and important decisions. For many families, the question isn’t whether assisted living is a good option—it’s when the time is right. Knowing the signs to look for and planning ahead can make the transition smoother, more comfortable, and ultimately empowering for your loved one.

We are here to answer any question.

It’s more than pink ribbons and reminders — it’s about people, stories, and strength.

Breast cancer awareness isn’t just about a month on the calendar; it’s about honoring survivors, supporting those still in treatment, and remembering the loved ones we’ve lost along the way. It’s about early detection, open conversations, and standing together in hope and resilience.

We honor the courage it takes to face a diagnosis, the compassion that carries people through it, and the community that surrounds them every step of the way.
