Come with me to do a house call for a family of six!

I don’t do many house calls these days. But this family has seen me for years and as their family has grown it gets more difficult for them to all come in at once, so it’s easier for me to go to them.

When I say we’re family friendly this is what I mean. Your kids can be active participants. They won’t be scolded and expected to sit down with their fingers crossed. When I’m seeing families we get into a flow where I’m working and playing and thinking and giggling and sometimes pausing for tantrums or some sibling dramaaaa. It’s a fun little dance we do that requires open hearts and flexibility.

I love my job. I love my families. I’m honored to get to care for these sweet souls.

Someone wasn’t quite ready to leave 😂 After finishing his own adjustment, this sweet guy decided the fun shouldn’t end so he climbed on mom during her adjustment.

At Lumos Chiropractic, we don’t just treat patients. We hold space for families. We know that for our kiddos, comfort and connection are everything. Especially our neurodivergent friends. Whether your kiddo needs a specific sensory environment, a little extra time to adjust, or just wants to snuggle on the table, they are always welcome here exactly as they are.

I always tell people you’re never too young to get checked. Adjusting my daughter at one day old in the bedroom she was born in. I always thought I’d adjust my baby IMMEDIATELY. But I was still processing her. Downloading her into my system. I don’t think I could have properly found a subluxation because my head was in the clouds 😅

Looking at this now that she’s a hilarious and absolutely BANANAS two year old, I’m so grateful for this start. To me, Black maternal health is about this right here. The peace. The autonomy. The power to provide for our own in our own spaces. Reclaiming our justice. Doing more than surviving. Experiencing bliss. ✨

One thing we've been quietly working on...insurance billing! When I first opened Lumos, I was adamant about being a cash practice. I wanted to make sure insurance companies were not dictating my care plans. I didn't ever want to base what someone needs on outside influences.

I also wanted to contribute to a world where chiropractic care was accessible and diverse. The profession is so white and male, and sometimes care can be pretty expensive. Over the last few years, I've opened my mind to accepting insurance. I realized all of the tropes I'd heard chiropractors say over the years....felt like lazy excuses. I started thinking....how can I be accessible if I'm refusing insurance, knowing treatment can end up costing thousands of dollars? So we've been putting in the time and effort to accurately bill medical insurance. We're starting with just a few. But we're here!

So if the inability to bill your insurance is what kept you away, reach out and see if we are in network!
