Did you know that Hillcrest South has an entire lab dedicated to training our staff? This is the simulation lab, a realistic hospital-like environment complete with medical equipment and life-size medical mannequins. Our clinical educators bring in staff members of all skillsets and experience levels to help them learn and practice life-saving skills. One of the ways we use the lab is to train new graduate nurses, allowing them to practice procedures like placing catheters and nasogastric tubes, all while building confidence. In doing this, we're making better health care workers and building community in the hospital.

Dr. Chris Treat, shoulder and upper extremity surgeon at Utica Park Clinic (UPC), now offers patients faster relief with the Seg-WAY® Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Release (ECTR) System. This advanced system allows surgeons to make a small, half-inch incision to release the transverse carpal ligament, relieving pressure on the nerve that causes pain and discomfort.

The benefits of endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery include smaller incisions, minimal scarring, operational efficiency and shorter recovery times. Patients can typically expect to get back to normal life and regain use of their hand faster than with traditional surgery. Learn more at the link in the comments.

Welcome, family medicine physician Raad Al Awamleh, M.D., to the Utica Park Clinic team! Dr. Awamleh specializes in preventive care and chronic disease management.

Dr. Awamleh's love for medicine began when he was just a child, when he would join his mother at her doctor's appointments. “I didn’t understand everything at the time, but I remember how the doctors made her feel safe and cared for," said Dr. Awamleh. "That experience sparked something in me."

Outside of the clinic, you can find him enjoying walks, trying new restaurants with his wife and constantly learning something new.
