You are a blessing to our communities, and you deserve to rest. I’ve devoted much of my free time over the past week to creating a free gift just for you. ⭐️ Visit https://yogaforanxiety.ck.page/tipsforschoolstaff and I will send it your way!⭐️

I worked in/with the public school system for 16 years before opening my private therapy practice. I’ve seen firsthand the incredible amount of stress you are under. You have been in a state of survival for 10 months straight. Most teachers/staff go one of two routes: they are so exhausted by summertime, they collapse into a state of hypoarousal (shutdown, fatigued, and motivated, emotionally and/or physically numb and disconnected). Sometimes, once you are down, it is really hard to get back up. The entire summer goes by in a flash.

Or, the opposite: you have to stay so busy with your summer job, caring for children, etc., and you stay stuck in an escalated state. You have difficulty relaxing and resting at all. The summer ends and you were barely able to breathe.

Then, the cycle starts all over again.

In honor of all the teachers I know and love, I created this ✨✨free resource✨ ✨to help this summer feel different. Learn about nervous system dysregulation and easy tips you can immediately incorporate to help you get the balance between movement and rest you so desperately need…and deserve!

⬇️Tag a teacher/school staff member who deserves some love this summer!

Peace to you! 💕-Pam

I know it’s incredibly frustrating when your body/mind responds this way, but here’s the reality: You are a survivor. Getting anxious or shutting down to avoid danger and discomfort is how you’ve survived this long. Your mind, body, and spirit did an amazing job protecting you. The strength and resilience that enabled you to make it to adulthood can now be your fuel to consistently do the work it takes to create a new life, learning to live through love rather than fear.

✨Step One: Begin to develop a vocabulary for your emotions so you are able to name and validate the wounded parts of you (see previous posts).

✨Step Two: Learn to regulate your nervous system and soothe your anxious Inner Child. I created the Release, Relax, Redirect Method© as a simple way for you to begin. ⭐️⭐️ Go to https://yogaforanxiety.ck.page/359e451573 for a free mini-course to introduce yourself to this method. Includes videos with which you can follow along!⭐️⭐️

These two steps can be life-changing. They were for me! You deserve a joyful, wholehearted life - and, if you choose - you can start right now.

Peace to you! 💕 -Pam

Imagine what it would have been like to have a loving adult attuned to your needs, always there to help you understand and manage the emotions you were feeling?

This is what you needed, this is what you deserved.

Suppressing or numbing your emotions, distracting yourself from them, or even caring for other people instead of yourself may have been the best way to survive your childhood. It is no longer serving you as an adult.

If you did not receive this emotional care in childhood, you can begin the process of reparenting your Inner Child with this simple but powerful act: Learning a vocabulary for your emotions.

Most of us use words like mad, sad, scared, happy… But that doesn’t really even begin to cover the vast range of emotions that human beings experience.

When you can pinpoint the word(s) that describe exactly what you are feeling, this validation of your experience is healing in itself. Pausing to allow your Inner Child to finally be heard is healing.

Just as sometimes you need a friend to listen and not necessarily jump in to fix things, your Inner Child sometimes just needs to be heard. Even just naming your emotion can significantly reduce the intensity of your distress.

Use an emotions wheel (see previous post) to begin familiarizing yourself with this new vocabulary. Then, when you feel distressed, take a moment to pause, attune to your Inner Child, and choose the word that best describes how you feel.

Do you have other ways you help yourself sort out what you are feeling? Please share below so others may benefit from your wisdom! ⬇️ ⬇️

Peace to you! 💕

🔈on! Inviting comfort and joy via all 5 senses is a lovely way to self-soothe! This technique is one component of a module in my Inner Child soothing course, and I’m practicing it as I’m deep in creation of the course’s Part #2.

I’m sunken into softness, feeling enveloped by my favorite leather chair.

When I glance up, I have a view of my beloved pink velvet couch with my favorite pillow I found at a street market in Thailand.

I rest my eyes from the computer screen by watching the birds and squirrels in my backyard (can you spot the little squirrel standing at attention?).

I listen to the birds chirp and the soft clanking sounds of my bamboo wind chimes.

I taste the coolness of the matcha/kale/fruit smoothie that is nourishing me and giving me stamina to create.

I smell the fresh Spring air floating in through the screen.

All these give me joy and contentment, keeping me well in body, mind, and spirit while creating.

What are your favorite ways to bring in joy through any or all of your 5 senses? How could you surround yourself with these comforts in the places in which you spend the most time?

I’d love to hear your creative ideas...please share!

Peace to you! -💕-Pam
