In this article, learn how Calvin visits veterans in their homes while connecting with Sara, the VIST Coordinator in Fayetteville, through a video call. This collaboration allows Sara to remotely evaluate each veteran while Calvin demonstrates assistive technology designed to support greater independence.

A nonprofit home in Broken Arrow known as Jeri’s House is empowering DeafBlind adults from across the country by teaching life skills, independence and confidence through hands-on support and community.

Today is White Cane Safety Day!

Celebrating the independence, confidence, and safety that the white cane represents for people who are blind or visually impaired.

The first White Cane Safety Day was proclaimed in 1964, when President Lyndon B. Johnson signed a resolution recognizing the white cane as a symbol of independence and mobility. Since then, October 15 has been a day to honor the achievements of the blind and visually impaired community and to remind everyone of the importance of awareness and accessibility in everyday life.
