“Brian is amazing! Twice we have met Brian. The first time was in rehab and he tried to fix a loaner chair specifically for my husband while his is being manufactured. A poorly-fitting or worn out wheelchair or cushions can cause pressure sores to form in as little as 2 hours, but can take months to heal.

Here are a few key things to look out for.

Worn-out cushion:
If you can feel the base of the chair through your cushion, it’s time for a replacement.

Redness:
Skin that stays red for more than 20 minutes after transferring.

Friction or discomfort:
If you’ve got a cushion or part of your chair that’s rubbing, scraping, or pushing in against you, you could be at risk.
