Dear friends of Breast Health Specialists of Oklahoma,

As you may know, or may have heard, after 40 years of surgical practice, I am planning to retire within this next year.

Reaching this decision was difficult. I knew I would be causing anxiety in many, many patients who have periodically returned for their routine breast “surveillance” exams. Where would they go for exams?

Fortunately, I have met a young replacement surgeon to carry on at Breast Health Specialists!
Dr. Jessica Enix will start practice at Breast Health Specialists July 15, 2022. Jessica is a general surgeon, focusing on breast surgery, and has practiced in Ada, Oklahoma for 6 years. She is an OU Medical School graduate and completed surgery residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She is associated with Surgical Partners of Oklahoma, an Oklahoma City Surgical practice. Dr. Stephanie Taylor, a breast surgeon, and Dr. Brady Hagood, a general surgeon are members of Surgical Partners.

Dr. Enix, assisted by Dr. Taylor, will continue the breast surgery practice of Breast Health Specialists. She will continue to provide evaluation and surgical treatment of ALL breast issues, including abnormal exams (lumps), abnormal mammograms, high risk assessments (i.e., breast cancer family history +/- genetic testing), breast biopsies, and breast malignancies.

I will be present for the remainder of 2022 and will be available to introduce you to Drs. Enix and Taylor, and to help with the transition. I anticipate that you will continue to trust Dr. Enix, Dr. Taylor, and Breast Health Specialists with your care.

Please know that our goal is to continue the timely service for which we are known, and to continue to see our longstanding patients who return to our practice for routine exams.

It has been, and continues to be, an honor to assist in your care. Thank you for your continued trust.

Sincerely yours,
Dr. Frame

"I've been diagnosed with breast cancer. What happens now?"

We will meet with you and appropriate family members to review your history, perform a complete exam, review your breast imaging, and occasionally perform ultrasound exams in the office. We will then thoroughly discuss your situation, and together, devise a plan of action to most completely address your breast cancer treatment.

"Am I at high risk for breast cancer and why? Can I have genetic testing?"

The simple fact is that all women are at risk for breast cancer, but of course, some at higher risk than others. The biggest factor affecting breast cancer risk is either having a family history of breast cancer or having a genetic mutation that predisposes you to develop breast cancer. However, simply having a relative with breast cancer or a genetic mutation does not mean that a woman is destined to develop breast cancer.

At BHS, we use genetic testing and careful review of your family tree to determine your specific risk for breast cancer. From there, we can advise on an appropriate plan for careful surveillance.
