✨Social Worker Spotlight✨

At GRAND Mental Health, we’re proud to celebrate the compassion, dedication, and impact of our social workers-professionals who walk alongside individuals and families through some of life’s most challenging moments with care and purpose.

Throughout the month, we’re spotlighting members of our social work team and what this work means to them.

Next Up: Jennifer Glenn

Here's what social work means to Jennifer-

"For as long as I can remember, I've joked that I didn't choose Social Work, but that Social Work chose me. It is truly something that runs in my family. The truth is, it feels less like a job and more like a calling.

The values at the heart of social work aren't just things I believe in professionally, they guide how I try to live my life every day: Service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, the importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence. Those aren't just words on a page. They shape how we show up for people, especially when they're navigating some of the hardest moments of their lives.

Social Workers are highly trained and deeply committed to the work. We invest years in education and real-world experience so we can understand the bigger picture of how policies, systems, and environments shape people's lives. Our role isn't to change who someone is. It is to remove barriers, advocate fiercely, and help create conditions where people can thrive on their own terms."

Thank you Jennifer and all our incredible social workers who pour so much into our communities.

The Delaware County- Kansas office had an amazing time attending local elementary schools’ S.T.E.A.M. Night! 🎉

Students explored emotional awareness using the Spots from the Spot of Feelings series, learning how to identify where feelings show up in their bodies. We also practiced the 5 Senses grounding strategy- an easy, practical tool kids can use anytime to feel more calm and focused.

Each student left with new coping skills, fun textured stickers featuring calming strategies, and a little candy to top off the night. We love partnering with schools to make mental health education engaging, hands-on, and accessible for kids!

Huge shout-out to Zenobia Yates (Kansas School Based therapist) Christi Carter (Care Navigator) Ritchie Ramos (Skills Development Professional) Riley Stephenson (Kansas Integrated Team Manager) for their incredible support of local students.

✨ It’s Social Workers Month! ✨

At GRAND Mental Health, we are proud to honor the impact, hard work, and dedication of our incredible social workers. Every day, they show up with compassion, commitment, and heart, walking alongside individuals and families through some of life’s most challenging and meaningful moments.

Throughout the month, we’ll be spotlighting different social workers and sharing what social work means to them.

First up: Katelyn Abrams

Here’s what social work means to Katelyn:

“Social work means so much to me because it gives me the opportunity to walk alongside families during some of the most vulnerable and important moments of their lives. I love being able to meet people exactly where they are, without judgment, and build real relationships rooted in trust and consistency.

For me, it’s never about doing things for people — it’s about doing things with them, helping them see their strengths, and cheering them on as they take each next step forward.

Some of the most meaningful parts of this work are the small wins — the moments when a child feels safe, when a parent feels heard, or when a family starts to believe in themselves again. Social workers are often the ones holding hope for our clients until they can hold it for themselves, and that is something I don’t take lightly.

I truly believe that when we invest in our clients and our communities, and when we show up with compassion, authenticity, and persistence, real change happens. Being part of that process is both a privilege and a purpose for me, and it’s why I’m so passionate about the work we do every single day.”

Thank you, Katelyn, and all of our social workers, for the hope you hold, the relationships you build, and the lives you impact every day.
