I think my favorite thing to reflect on when a year comes to a close, is the wild cards.
The things I couldn’t have predicted when I tried to imagine 2025 at the end of last year.

I (co-) started a birth center this year, ya’ll. I’m honestly still not sure how it happened.
2025 felt like a blur of hard work, but is it actually hard when you’re making dreams come true?

I think about the wild cards in years past which changed everything. Unexpected pivots. Chance encounters which turn strangers into lifelong companions. It really is the wild cards which move us along the path, into the new version of ourselves we’re always becoming.

It makes my brain itch in the most delicious way, thinking about what might be ahead for 2026.

Of course I can’t know, that’s the whole point.
But there’s something so hopeful to me about the unknown, about the vastness of potential.

May your wild cards move you along in the most beautifully unexpected ways this coming year

First Christmas baby in 12 years of midwifery.. and it’s going to be a hard one to beat 😍

Had the honor of spending early Christmas morning supporting this family through an absolutely magical birth ✨ Sweet baby girl was born in the sac, on her due date, and with a true knot in her cord! 🎄 I love it when older siblings are involved— big sister wanted to catch, but fetal ejection reflex made everything go a little too fast at the end :)

this moment
pressing your baby into your chest for the very first time,
all slippery and warm,
and exhilarating and perfect

relief, your body still reverberating
with the intensity you felt just seconds ago
it’s over, it’s finally done,
and also, it has just begun

hi baby, you’re here
I love you
sweet whispers

first breaths and also an exhale,
a pause
a moment

Reminiscing about the birth of my son, born at home 10 years ago today. It's so cliche, but also so true: The days go slow, but the years go fast.
I got to attend the birth of another sweet newborn born at home last night, and it felt like such a full-circle moment.. helping a family bring new life into the world, one decade after my amazing midwives helped me do the same. Still so thankful for you Faith and Brandi! Born to Be Loved Homebirth Midwife Faith Morie Freeman, CPM Amore Midwifery

About Tulsa Midwife Rebecca

My interest in midwifery began after giving birth to two of my children at home with a CPM (my 3rd baby was born at home in July 2016!). This interest intensified throughout my training and education as a midwife, and has become a strong passion. I am a Certified Professional Midwife, which differs from a Certified Nurse Midwife who would have gotten her education and training in a hospital setting. CPMs focus on homebirth, and thus most of their training is completed in a homebirth setting. I attended Via Vita School of Midwifery, a distance education program, for the academic portion of my education and completed an apprenticeship at Born to Be Loved Birth Services for the hands-on training, as well as an internship at Shiphrah Birthing Home in the Philippines.

As the years have passed, I have only become more passionate about birth and the mothers and babies we get to serve daily. It involves many a sleepless, difficult night which is compounded by the fact that my own children are still young– but in the end, the incredible joy of watching women blossom into the beautiful mothers they are makes it worth all the trouble again and again.

I am committed to serving families of all backgrounds and of all incomes, and strive to make midwifery care more available to women. In choosing out-of-hospital birth you have both a higher level of responsibility and control in your care. Throughout your care, I am committed to fully informing you of your status and options, discussing the pros and cons of each option, and making an individualized care plan with you.

Because I believe God created pregnancy and birth as sacred, fundamentally normal, physiological processes, I also believe that, in most cases, women have the ability to give birth without the need for medical interventions. Although I use and appreciate some modern obstetrical technology when it is desired or called for, I believe overuse of this technology can interfere with a woman’s experience of birth as joyous and empowering, and may actually prevent birth from proceeding normally. My focus is on promoting your physical and emotional well-being during your pregnancy and helping to prepare you for the upcoming transition into parenthood. I view the childbearing period as a healthy time that provides an opportunity to grow personally and as a family. I offer you preventative and individualized care, autonomy, control, privacy, and our focused attention. Repeated studies have shown that for women with low-risk pregnancies, out-of-hospital birth is as safe as hospital birth. In addition, hospital births carry some risks seldom associated with homebirths and birth centers.
