It was a pleasure to be able to participate in this program alongside of the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce and other local departments / businesses / etc. Thank you for inviting us to participate!
We are so grateful for each and every person listed below. Please take a moment to read about all who made this opportunity possible for our TAHS students!
On March 3, the Youth Opportunities Uncovered (YOU) leadership program graduated 31 juniors and seniors who were nominated by their teachers and took part in five leadership sessions over the school year.
Facilitators Allison Schultz of the Chamber and Susan Elias of TAHS planned the five sessions based around communication styles, setting visions and goals, servant leadership, keeping the leader mentally strong, identifying areas of improvement in our county, and teamwork and flexibility.
Many community members assisted in the sessions such as Kara Golden of Kara Golden Counseling and Consulting, Jeff Swire of Patriot's Cove, Erica Rogler of the Dietrich Theater, Taylor Finan of Finan Detail, Shane Powers of NeighborWorks, Denise Ebersole of the Metcalf Mansion, members of the Chamber adult leadership class, Jeff Porter and Ben Norris of the Wyoming County 911 Center, Ralph Schwartz of Wyoming County EMA, Mike Markovitz of the Tunkhannock Ambulance Association, Officer Alan Grow of the Tunkhannock Township Police Department, Chief Ed Morristell of the Tunkhannock Township Police Department, Jamie Orlandini and Chris DeMarco of P&G, Gina Suydam of the PA Chamber of Commerce, Matt Shaffer of Youngman, Rosenthal & Shaffer Wealth Management, Lindsay, David & Francene from the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce.
The students visited six local sites and were exposed to many areas of our county, such as emergency management, non-profit organizations, a multi-million-dollar facility, and a historical mansion. They connected with many Tunkhannock Area High School graduates who make Wyoming County their home and continue to advance our region.
Thank you, all, and congrats to our program graduates!
