Today we celebrate the social workers who strengthen our communities every day especially those serving in community mental health.

Social workers are often the first point of connection for individuals and families facing mental health challenges. They provide compassion, advocacy, crisis support, and hope meeting people where they are and helping them navigate complex systems with dignity and respect.

From reducing barriers to care to promoting resilience and recovery, social workers play a critical role in building healthier, more connected communities.

Today, and every day, we thank you for your dedication, heart, and commitment to mental well‑being for all.

Too Young to Bet

Youth exposure to gambling is increasing, especially through online platforms, social media, and sports betting ads, and the impact is showing.

Research indicates that more than one‑third of youth under 18 in North America have gambled and they are also more likely to meet the criteria for problem gambling, particularly when exposed to online sports betting, online video gaming features like loot boxes, and constant advertising.

It can begin earlier than many realize, affecting mental health, school performance, finances, and relationships.

Awareness, early conversations, and strong prevention efforts are critical to protecting young people and building healthier futures.

Today is World Sleep Day!

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than one in three U.S. adults and nearly eight out of 10 teens do not get enough sleep.

The connection between sleep and mental health is especially strong. People with insomnia are 10 times more likely to have depression and 17 times more likely to experience anxiety compared to the general population.

Your body needs enough sleep to feel rested the next day, sleep that is uninterrupted, and sleep that is deep enough to be truly restorative. When any of these are missing, your whole health can suffer.

If you struggle with sleep, talk with a healthcare provider. Better sleep can be a powerful step toward better health.

March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month

Problem gambling is any gambling behavior that harms a person’s well being, relationships, or financial stability, and it can affect anyone.

Warning signs include constantly thinking about gambling, needing to bet more to get the same feeling, feeling anxious when trying to stop, chasing losses, and continuing to gamble despite negative consequences.

Millions of adults in the U.S. experience gambling problems each year, with serious impacts on finances, employment, families, and mental health.

Help is available, and recovery is possible.

National Eating Disorders Awareness Week

Eating disorders can affect anyone, and the warning signs are not always obvious.

They can show up as changes in eating or exercise habits, skipping meals or social events, preoccupation with food or body image, feelings of shame or loss of control, persistent fatigue, or ongoing gastrointestinal discomfort.

If you’re concerned about a friend, family member, or colleague, starting a compassionate conversation can make a meaningful difference.
