These images from the MSS Strategic Planning Meeting this past Thursday and Friday capture more than a gathering of leaders. They reflect a defining moment in the life of Methodist Senior Services.

Leaders from across MSS communities joined Board Directors and Members of the Corporation to share their voices in shaping the future direction of the organization. This important work will help set the course for MSS for years to come. We were honored to have the session hosted by Dana Wollschlager, Partner, AHM, CRM, COM and Practice Leader with Plante Moran Living Forward, whose guidance helped frame thoughtful and forward-looking conversations.

The dialogue throughout the meeting was engaged, honest, and mission-centered. Every voice in the room reflected a commitment to the residents, families, and team members we serve. It is our hope that years from now we will look back on this season as a defining chapter when MSS positioned itself for continued strength, sustainability, and impact.

Thank you to every leader who participated and contributed to the meaningful conversations that will guide our next chapter. We are stronger together.

Today and tomorrow the Board of Directors and Members meet with the Statewide leadership team to strategically plan for the future of MSS.

As President/CEO Christie Vance gave a “State of the State” to kick things off, I noticed the beautiful Bradford Pear blooms bursting out among the trees. And I thought, “from the smallest things, great beauty comes forth.”

May God bless our strategic planning that from small conversations and ideas, great works of faith may bloom.

Your friends and family at Methodist Senior Services wish you a very special Valentine's Day.

We’re so proud to share this special moment from our team Traceway Retirement Community

You may remember Dottie Hudson’s sweet story about her orange corduroy dress, first shared during an interview with Jack York of the Talegate4Joy Project in partnership with Senior Living Stories and Dash Media. Since Senior Living Stories posted the clip on TikTok, it has been viewed nearly 25 million times and a beautiful reminder of how powerful one story can be.

Recently, the team surprised Dottie with a 2026 version of her iconic orange corduroy dress and showed her just how far her story has reached. Her reaction is something you don’t want to miss.

Thank you to the Traceway team for living out what it means to care in such a meaningful way.

Watch and celebrate with us.

MSS Names New Vice President of Operations and Chief Operations Officer

Tupelo, MS — (February 10, 2026) Methodist Senior Services is pleased to announce that Jim Zuelzke has been selected as the new Vice President of Operations and Chief Operations Officer for Methodist Senior Services in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Mr. Zuelzke has been with Methodist Senior Services (MSS) for ten years, having served first as Director of Accounting and then Vice President of Finance/CFO. He will be filling the role that was vacated by Christie Vance when she was named the President/Chief Executive Officer for MSS in February 2025. Prior to joining MSS, Zuelzke served as the supervisor of financial reporting, planning, and analysis for another healthcare organization.

During his tenure at MSS, Jim has overseen the daily accounting operations and record keeping as well as the annual audit reviews and organizational budgeting. As Director of Accounting, he helped select and implement new HR/Payroll software and was instrumental in adapting MSS campuses to the new payroll-based journal reporting system required by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. In addition, Jim has led the organization through some of the most financially challenging periods brought on by COVID. His steady leadership was critical as the senior housing and health services industry navigated unprecedented change and uncertainty.

“Beyond his technical expertise and experience, Jim brings something equally important to this role,” stated Christie Vance, MSS President/CEO. “He brings a genuine heart for our ministry and a clear understanding of our mission, values, and people. He is a dedicated team member and a natural fit to serve as Chief Operations Officer. No one understands our culture and heartbeat of Methodist Senior Services quite like Jim Zuelzke.”

Zuelzke received his Bachelor of Accountancy from Auburn University and his Master of Business Administration from the University of North Alabama. He is married to Lauren Waldrip Zuelzke, and they have two children, Mary Lyle and Bo, and a goddaughter Amyah. He is an active church member at The Orchard Tupelo. In his spare time, Jim enjoys watching Auburn sports and spending time with his family outdoors and on the water. Jim proudly supports his children in competitive sports such as tennis and baseball. One of his favorite responsibilities is coaching his son’s Rangers baseball team.

Please join us in congratulating Jim on this well-deserved promotion and in offering your continued support as he steps into this new leadership role.
