Please join us in celebrating Tammy Griffin, Life Connections Coordinator (LCC) at Bruce CLC!

Tammy is the proud mother of three wonderful daughters—Mandi, Nicole, and Noelle—and a devoted Mamaw to seven grandchildren, plus a Grandma to five “greatest” great-grandbabies. Family truly means everything to her, and that same love and devotion carries over into her work each day.

Tammy has been a valued member of the Bruce CLC family for 27 years, serving in several roles throughout her career. She began in the laundry department in 1997, was promoted to Laundry/Housekeeping Supervisor in 2004, and in 2010 achieved her dream role as Life Connections Coordinator. In 2015, she further expanded her skill set by becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
Her dedication to both the facility and the community has not gone unnoticed. Tammy was honored with the Citizen of the Year Award from the Bruce Chamber of Commerce in 2018 and the CEDA Mayor’s Award in 2019.

Today, as Life Connections Coordinator, Tammy is deeply committed to creating meaningful, engaging experiences that enhance the quality of life for our residents. Many of those she serves are lifelong members of the community, and she considers it a true privilege to walk alongside them in this season of life. Tammy also takes great pride in working with a compassionate, dedicated team she considers an extension of her own family.

Thank you, Tammy, for 27 years of heart, service, and dedication—you truly make a difference every day! 💙

As we continue celebrating Activity Professionals Week, we are proud to recognize another dedicated member of our Life Connections team — Lawanda Darby!

Lawanda has devoted an incredible 31 years to the healthcare field, bringing compassion, experience, and heart into everything she does. She spent three years serving as an Assistant Activity Director in Greenwood before beginning her journey at Vaiden Community Living Center as the Life Connections Coordinator. With training and support from CES and fellow staff members, Lawanda embraced this new and exciting environment with enthusiasm and passion.

Lawanda truly loves what she does, and the residents and families she serves bring her immense joy. One of her most meaningful early experiences was forming a special bond with a resident who deeply touched her heart. Though that resident has since passed, Lawanda carries those memories with her — a reminder of both the beauty and the challenges of working in healthcare.

Outside of work, Lawanda enjoys spending quality time with her family, especially her first-born grandchild, who was born in 2022. Recently diagnosed with autism and non-verbal, he continues to inspire her daily with his ability to express his needs and emotions in his own unique ways. During her quiet moments, Lawanda enjoys watching horror and suspense movies, the ID Channel, and cheering on her favorite NFL team as a proud, die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan.

We are so thankful for Lawanda’s dedication, compassion, and the meaningful connections she creates every day. 💙 Thank you, Lawanda, for being an Everyday Hero and for going Beyond the Ordinary!

Meet Stephanie Castleman —one of our everyday heroes! 💙
Her superhero name? El Choppo Red ❤️🦸‍♀️
Stephanie joined our team in November and became full-time in December 2025. In such a short time, both staff and residents are already in love with her contagious smile and the unmatched attention and care she brings each day.

Stephanie is a proud mom of four boys and has spent the last 15 years doing what she loves most as an Activity Director and Life Connections Coordinator. Creating meaningful moments, building genuine connections, and spreading joy are at the heart of everything she does.

One of Stephanie’s favorite accomplishments includes competing on BBQ grill teams, where she’s a two-time Team Spirit Award winner and has earned 11+ top-three placements at the local Soybean Festival—proof that teamwork, creativity, and passion really do make a difference! 🔥🏆

Outside of work, Stephanie enjoys Jeep Club events, summertime adventures, quality time with her sons and nephew, and, of course, her dogs. 🐾☀️

What she loves most about being an LCC is seeing residents and staff truly thrive—those genuine smiles, laughter, and moments of happiness, knowing she helped make each day a little brighter. She believes in having fun, living with purpose, and showing up every day ready to make meaningful connections—because that’s where the magic happens. ✨

It’s Activity Professionals Week! 🎉
This year’s theme is “Beyond the Ordinary: Everyday Heroes,” and we’re proud to spotlight some of our very own heroes—our amazing Life Connections team. 💙

Bridget Lopez at Longwood Community Living Center:
My superhero name is Sophie Pink, and my superpower is love, compassion, and connection. I am a proud mother of three and have dedicated the past 17 years to serving as a CNA, with 14 of those years spent at Longwood. Caring for others has never been “just a job” to me—it is a calling that I carry with me every day.

In my role as Life Connection Coordinator, the most meaningful part of my work is the time I spend with our residents—listening to their stories, offering comfort, easing fears, celebrating milestones, and simply being present. One of my greatest rewards is seeing familiar faces light up when I walk through the door and knowing I’ve made a difference when they ask when I’ll be back.

I have always had a deep heart for our elders. They have taught me patience, kindness, and resilience, and it is an honor to care for them during this stage of their lives. It means everything to me when families feel confident that their loved ones are truly cared for—not out of obligation, but out of genuine love and respect. My heart is here, my passion is here, and this is exactly where I am meant to be.
