It’s fun to swing a child by the arms but we have to be careful when they are really young.

Pulling a child by the arm can cause a "nursemaid's elbow," a common injury in children aged 1 to 4, where the radial head (a bone in the elbow) slips out of its ligament. This injury results from sudden, forceful pulling or twisting motions, such as swinging the child, and can cause immediate pain. It is not a dislocation but a subluxation, or partial dislocation, and is often treated with a quick, gentle maneuver by a healthcare provider.

Let’s welcome our newest therapist to the Pelvic Clinic : Emily Tuggle.
Emily is a Tupelo native and graduated from William Carey University with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2022. She began her pelvic floor training through the Herman and Wallace institute in 2022 before moving to start her pelvic floor PT career in Nashville.
Emily is passionate about educating patients on the mind-body connection that often accompanies pelvic floor dysfunction and helping patients return to their desired activities without pelvic symptoms. Emily also has special interest in myofascial work and the role of fascia in pelvic dysfunction.
Emily met her husband, Andrew, while she was in PT school in Hattiesburg and he was stationed nearby in the Navy. They have a daughter, Elsie, who was born in 2024.
In her spare time, Emily enjoys painting, knitting, and baking for her family.
