Tongue Tie 👅 parents often wonder if it’s important to have a tongue tie clipped. My opinion, YES! 🙌🏻 Tongue tied children don’t always have nursing problems or speech issues, but a tethered tongue can lead to other long term problems ⬇️
💫when at rest and while sleeping the tongue should easily rest on the roof of the mouth (suctioning to the hard and soft palate). This allows for stimulation of the vagus nerve and triggers the rest and restore nervous system (parasympathetic)
💫If the tongue cannot rest on the palate because it is tied to the floor of the mouth then the child will most likely experience sleep disordered breathing😳
💫Symptoms of sleep disorders in children are profound: ADHD, depression, irritability, difficulty in school, bed wetting and the list goes on and on. 😢
