March 3 is World Hearing Day! This year, we bring attention to the importance of:

📢Safe listening levels - be aware of.the volume of your and your children’s devices. General rule for volume is less than 50%! Personal electronics such as headphones/earbuds can easily cause permanent noise-induced hearing loss if not used safely!

👂🏻Regular hearing evaluations are important! When was the last time you had your hearing evaluated? Did you know it often takes people 7-10 years to recognize they have a hearing loss?

🦻🏾 Early treatment matters! You listen in your 🧠 and if you’re struggling to hear, you’re not able to really focus and understand the conversation around you. Listening fatigue is real and can affect cognition and quality of life. We see it everyday, early treatment has better long term outcomes!

Did you know? Around 430 million people worldwide — that’s more than the population of the U.S. and EU combined — live with disabling hearing loss, meaning their hearing is impaired enough that communication and daily life can be seriously affected. This figure comes from the World Health Organization (WHO).

The WHO explains that disabling hearing loss refers to a reduction in hearing greater than 35 decibels (dB) in the better-hearing ear — enough to make regular conversation difficult without support like hearing aids or cochlear implants.

As WHO puts it, “untreated hearing loss can have a devastating impact on people’s ability to communicate, to study and to earn a living.”

Let’s raise awareness — and remove barriers so that everyone has access to the care and technology they need.

Today, we recognize International Cochlear Implant Day 🎧

Cochlear implants have transformed access to sound for individuals with severe to profound hearing loss, supporting communication, education, and connection at every stage of life.

On February 25, we celebrate the technology, professionals, and families who make hearing possible in new ways—and the recipients whose stories remind us why hearing care matters.
