Coming TOMORROW, the first (hopefully of many) Death in Community Circles in Deerfield, MA.

Solar eclipses are a time for releasing past cycles and unspoken feelings from the past, what better way to explore those concepts than through the lens of grief and death.

We will gather this Thursday, April 11th, at 6pm in the Yellow Rose Birth office in Deerfield, MA. Space is limited, attendance is capped at 12, please message me to reserve your space ASAP. A suggested donation of $5 - $15 per person to help offset costs and grow this community in the future would be welcomed but isn’t mandatory. NOTAFLOF!*

Death in Community Circle is a place to get together with your neighbors and shine a light in dark places. We will share our grief, listen with open kindness, and process some really big stuff together.

Message me today and reserve your spot!

*No one turned away for lack of funds

*** Required prerequisites are a sense of humor and an open mind. This is a safe space for all, Death in Community is for neighbors of all ages, genders, races, sexualities, and more. ***

Soooo what I’m seeing here is that Jack Whitehall is an inclusive ally, and some of his followers couldn’t handle that? We can work with that!

If you know any *pregnant people* in or near London, let them know Jack Whitehall is looking for them! 💚

Full harvest moon in Aries
Welcome to spooky season, we’re kicking it off with a big ol’ pumpkin! The harvest moon isn’t tied to a particular month, it’s what we in the northern hemisphere call the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox (which fell on September 22nd this year). Usually it’s in September, but this tricky minx is October’s opening act.
The focus here is on abundance and release. This is a great time to harvest (learn from) life lessons of the last few months. Store what will nourish you, discard what won’t. Separate the wheat from the chaff, baby, keep only what you need. Be ready for some powerful bursts of energy and have plans for how to direct them - clean your space, focus your intentions, make a plan for the future. Be gentle with yourself and others, try to lead with love and forgiveness, but be resolute in your core values.
Tools for channeling Harvest Moon energy in your life:
🌱 herbs - thyme, burdock, witch hazel, valerian
🌳 trees - yew, cypress, acacia, bay, hawthorn
🌈 colors - browns and greens, scarlet
✨ stones - opal, tourmaline, peridot, bloodstone
🧝🏼‍♂️ deities - Ishtar, Astarte, Demeter, Hathor the Horned God, Lakshmi, Kore, Brigid, Freya
💫 focus on - abundance and release
🌽 activities:
Do some research into what native land you are on, find a way to make some small reparation to living descendants or, if not possible, to a good cause supporting indigenous people.
Spend some time journaling and planning ahead for the winter - does your home need any repairs? Could you stock up on a few household essentials? Do you have enough chopped wood on hand?
If you are able to, seek ways to spread your own abundance. Host a food drive, donate outgrown/unworn clothing, volunteer with a worthy cause. What better way to celebrate a bountiful harvest than to pay it forward!
Make moon art! Gather materials from nature and have fun using the different textures to make a moon out of leaves, acorns, sticks, whatever you find.

The herbs have gone to seed, the leaves are putting on a show, harvest season is almost over. Sometimes the change of season feels sad, like a loss. Sometimes it’s a joyful step forward into the future... for me, it’s usually a mix of both. This year, though, I am welcoming it with open arms! Keep that wheel moving! Moving toward a cure for this virus, toward whatever comes next for my family, toward a more equitable future for marginalized people, toward Election Day (vote him out!), toward... better days.
But in the meantime, I’ll dry some mint and make tea.

9 🌽 2 🌽 2020
Full corn moon in Pisces
September is usually the time for the harvest moon, but as usual 2020 is here with a *twist*. The corn moon, the last full moon before the equinox and Mabon, is here to remind you to embrace gratitude, compassion, and intuitive awareness. Trust your heart. We are preparing ourselves for the deeper more introspective months ahead, other-worldly energy creeps back into our lives just as Halloween decor hits the stores. Be aware - this energy *can* make things feel worse than they are. Nurture your spirit and creativity. Seek balance. What can you sacrifice today that will benefit you further down the road?
Tools to key into Corn Moon Awesomeness:
🌱 herbs - chamomile, fennel, rue, rosemary, basil
🌳 trees - cedar, hazel
🌈 colors - red, orange, yellow
✨ stones - carnelian, garnet, tigers eye
🧝🏼‍♂️ deities - Gaia, Demeter, Corn Mother, Nemesis, Vulcan, Hathor and Thoth
💫 focus on - gathering, gratitude, bounty, wellness, mother energy
🌽 activities:
- Do some research into what native land you are on, find a way to make some reparations to living descendants or, if not possible, to a good cause supporting indigenous people.
- Bake some bread - ideally cornbread, but any grain product will do - and offer some of it up as a sacrifice to the spirits of your land and property.
- As you harvest your garden, set aside parts you aren’t preserving for culinary use and find another purpose for them. Compost stems and leaves, save seeds for next year’s garden, hang and dry herbal stems and roots for later use.
- Make a straw man out of corn husks and other garden debris. Place him somewhere safe to dry out, then at Samhain ask him to guard your home for the coming year. You can also burn him as a part of Beltane rituals when planting a new garden in the spring, if desired.

A doula’s bag is a magical place full of lotions, potions, useful things, and snacks! But never underestimate the impact of a well-timed cool washcloth on a forehead or neck during active labor 💜
