Egizi Funeral Home

Egizi Funeral Home Egizi Funeral Home is Washington Township's ONLY family owned funeral home. We have years of experience caring for families, from all walks of life. Gary H.

Each family comes to us because they know we are leaders in our profession, dedicated to excellence in service, and have the highest integrity. Our History - In 1970 Gary H. Egizi and his father Hugh Egizi established the Egizi Funeral Home, where Gary lived above the funeral home for many years. As the years passed and their business grew into one of the largest volume funeral homes in Washington Twp. Hugh and Evelyn Egizi (Gary's parents) were from a time kids today blithely call, "back in the day". That's back in the day, when family values weren't just a slogan, they were a way of life. Those values produced among other things a legacy amounting to a modest network of family businesses and vocations. Hugh and Evelyn both passed away after a life given over to selflessly making a home for a large family. Those duties in the early days, meant making food and household items from scratch. The couple is survived by five children, a slew of grandchildren, and the legacy that includes the Egizi Funeral Home, which sprawls along Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Their's, a typical American story, and its echoes likely ring through many families. Egizi was in the funeral business only a few years when his father Hugh suggested to him that they should buy this five acre parcel in Washington Twp. So in 1969 construction began, when subdivisions were an oddity here and farms still ruled the land. Construction of the funeral home took a year and in 1970 the Washington Twp. tradition started as we know it today. Egizi owned and operated the funeral home for 32 years before passing the business over to Charles V. Chiango, Jr. in 2002. Charles began working with Gary at the age of 19 back in 1985. Charles and his wife Jackie and their two boys Charlie and Anthony now live above the funeral home as did Gary and his wife Cynthia where they raised their family. The Egizi's now live in back of the funeral home. Today Gary still works side by side with Charles and the one thing that they both will never forget is that back in 1970 it all started with a family.
