Hi everyone! My name is Ashley and I’m a journalism student at the University of Alabama working on a story about maternal healthcare access in Alabama.

I’m hoping to speak with moms who have experienced:

difficulty finding prenatal care

long travel times to appointments or delivery

limited OB options in your county

challenges receiving postpartum care

I’m also hoping to hear from Black mothers, as research shows they often face unique barriers in accessing consistent maternal healthcare in Alabama. Your perspective is incredibly important.

📢 WIC IN ALABAMA WILL CONTINUE

The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) is reminding people that the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program will continue to operate as normal during the federal government shutdown.

The ADPH also reminds participants that WIC and SNAP are different programs. SNAP is not managed by ADPH.

What this means right now:
• All WIC services remain available statewide.

To help ensure uninterrupted service, ADPH has temporarily moved to a one-month benefit issuance schedule.
