Gracefully Aging Yoga Gail Portrey has been practicing yoga for more than 40 years. She also has an advanced certificate in Therapeutic Yoga.

She has trained in numerous styles, including Gentle Yoga, Yin Yoga, Yoga Tune-up, Hatha, Chair yoga, and Vinyasa Flow. Gail Portrey, C-IAYT

Gail Portrey has been practicing yoga for more than 40 years. She also has an advanced certificate in Therapeutic Yoga and specializes in yoga for the osteoporosis challenged. She is drawn to yoga through a deep desire to achieve personal transformation and to address individual health issues for her students. Gail has studied with a variety of teachers in Los Angeles, California (including her 200 hour training at Yoga Blend), Therapeutic Yoga at White Lotus in Santa Barbara. She has also completed a 100 hour training curriculum at Loyola Marymount University with the internationally renowned Srivatsa Ramiswami, one of the last remaining teachers who trained with Sri T. Krishnamacharya in the ancient Indian traditions of breathing and the sutras. She has also completed the YOGA TUNEUP training and certification process. Her meditation techniques were developed studying with Deepak Chopra, Tara Brach and others. Sessions combine breath work and meditation as well as stretching, strengthening and relaxation.

Gail Portrey has been practicing yoga for more than 40 years. She has trained in numerous styles, including Gentle Yoga, Yin Yoga, Yoga Tune-up, Hatha, Chair yoga, and Vinyasa Flow. She also has an advanced certificate in Therapeutic Yoga and specializes in yoga for the osteoporosis challenged.

Chair Yoga is a great way for beginners, seniors, and any one physically challenged to strengthen and stretch the body. Adaptations can be made for those who can stand and for those who are chair bound. Benefits can include improved core stability, better balance, increased flexibility, and endurance.

Chair Yoga
Tuesdays 2:00 PM-3:00
Enjoy easy stretching and toning exercise using chairs. Includes breathing techniques to increase lung capacity, strengthen immunity, and relieve stress. End the class with a guided meditation.
Bring a tennis ball and a belt/strap/towel. No preregistration required.
Charge: $3/class

Yin/Yoga Nidra
Thursdays 5:45PM-7:00
The perfect way to release after a stressful day by stretching tense muscles. Learn breathing techniques for relaxation. End the class with a guided meditation for stress relief.
Bring a yoga mat, a blanket and a pillow for your head. A yoga block or two if you have them. No preregistration required.
Charge: $10/class

Yoga for Osteoporosis
Thursdays 10:00AM-11:00
Specialized class for those with osteoporosis or osteopenia to help improve posture, balance and flexibility, range of motion and muscle strength. The class uses the Fishman method as well as Iyengar yoga, both demonstrated to increase bone mass. Class will include standing and seated postures. This class is limited to 12 participants, so advance registration is required. Please call the number above to preregister.
Charge: $15/class
