💘 Love Was in the Air at Capstone Village! 💘

Friday, our residents celebrated Valentine’s Day with laughter, sweet memories, and a little friendly competition! ❤️

Residents teamed up at their tables to match famous couples throughout history — proving that true love stories really do stand the test of time. From classic romances to legendary partnerships, everyone had fun putting their knowledge to the test!

We also played a lively round of the “Not So Newlywed Game,” and congratulations are in order for Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds, our winning couple! 🏆 Their answers (and their smiles!) reminded us all that love only grows sweeter with time.

At Capstone Village, we cherish every opportunity to celebrate with our residents — especially their beautiful love stories that continue to inspire us every day. 💕

We felt the love a little early this year at Capstone Village! ❤️

Yesterday, the wonderful students from University of Alabama Child Development Center came next door to celebrate Valentine’s Day with our residents. They filled our halls with sweet songs, bright smiles, and the most thoughtful handmade valentines.

There is something so special about watching generations connect — laughter shared, little hands delivering cards, and hearts touched on both sides. Moments like these remind us why we cherish our relationship with our amazing neighbors at the Child Development Center.

Thank you to these precious students and their teachers for bringing so much joy to Capstone Village. We truly love our neighbors and treasure the memories we create together! 💌✨

Heart Month is officially underway at Capstone Village! ❤️👟

Our residents started the month strong with an outdoor walk around our Garden Homes community. It was a wonderful time of movement, fellowship, and enjoying the beauty of the day together.

Staying active is one of the best ways to support heart health, and we’re proud of our residents for stepping out and prioritizing wellness.

We are so thankful for our University of Alabama student volunteers who regularly spend time at Capstone Village helping our residents with technology! 💻❤️

From navigating smartphones and tablets to answering everyday tech questions, these students make such a difference in helping our residents stay connected and confident.

Pictured here is Peter Connolly, a freshman chemistry major at UA, who is one of the many wonderful students who give their time and patience to serve our community. We are so grateful for Peter and all of our UA volunteers who make these special visits possible!

We’re still smiling about National Pizza Day yesterday! 🍕
Our lobby was filled with the smell of fresh pizza, laughter, and good company as residents enjoyed cheese and pepperoni slices with soft drinks. A simple treat, but a great afternoon at Capstone Village.

💙 Capstone Village Town Hall Highlights 💙

This month’s Town Hall brought our residents and staff together to share important updates and celebrate what makes our community so special. We discussed preparations for incoming winter weather, shared marketing updates, and looked ahead to upcoming events and activities around Capstone Village.

The most meaningful moment of the day was the presentation of the Caring Hearts Award to our incredible resident aide, Carol Church. Carol has served in our Memory Care neighborhood for more than 20 years, and she often says she doesn’t consider what she does “work”—it’s simply caring for people she loves like family.

Carol had the privilege of caring for Dr. James and Donjette Yarbrough, in whose memory the Caring Hearts Award was created. The award was lovingly presented by their daughters, making the moment even more special.

We are so proud of Carol’s compassion, dedication, and the heart she brings to Capstone Village every single day. She truly helps make Capstone Village a Legendary Place to Call Home. 💙

As we age, staying active becomes one of the most powerful ways to maintain our independence, confidence, and overall well-being. 💙 Regular exercise can help improve balance, strengthen muscles, boost mobility, support heart health, and even enhance mood and mental clarity. Most importantly, it helps reduce the risk of falls and keeps us doing the things we love—longer.
At Capstone Village, we believe movement should be safe, enjoyable, and accessible for everyone. That’s why we offer a variety of exercise classes throughout the week designed specifically for our residents’ needs and abilities. One of our favorites is our weekly Chair Yoga class, where residents can gently stretch, improve flexibility, build strength, and relax—all from the comfort and support of a chair.
From low-impact fitness and balance training to group movement classes that encourage social connection, staying active at Capstone Village is about more than exercise—it’s about living well, together. 🌿

We had such a fun time at the OLLI at UA Tuscaloosa Spring Showcase!
Capstone Village loved sharing our community, partnering with OLLI, and cheering on resident Richard Rhone, who stole the show with his energetic presentation on Marquis de Lafayette—complete with a full Lafayette costume! 🎩🎭

Did you know? Capstone Village provides free transportation to OLLI classes for our residents. We handle the drop-off and pick-up, making it easy and convenient to keep learning, exploring interests, and staying connected—one of the many ways we support lifelong learning in our community 🚐✨
