Did you know that you can customize your vision after cataract surgery?

The RxSight is implanted in the eye when a patient receives cataract surgery. Once the eyes have healed over the span of two or three weeks, the patient's vision is then adjusted by a series of office-based light treatment procedures that only take a few minutes each. During these procedures, the vision is corrected with the Light Delivery Device (LDD) in order to modify the shape of the lens, which alters your vision. The lens can be modified two to four times for optimal results, but not every patient will require the same amount of adjustments.

Patients who received the Light Adjustable Lens followed by adjustments were twice as likely to achieve 20/20 vision at 6 months without glasses as those who received a standard monofocal IOL.

Contact our office to learn more about benefits of both cataract surgery and RxSight.

Are Sagging Eyelids Covering Your Eyes?

Removing excess eyelid skin and tissue can seem like an invasive and difficult process. But eyelid surgery is a straightforward outpatient procedure. If your eyelids are sagging over your eyes, you may be a candidate for a blepharoplasty procedure at River View Surgery Center.

Our last scrub tech we are celebrating is Irma Merman. We really appreciate our scrub techs and were so happy to spotlight them this week! ⭐️

About Irma:
My family and I are originally from Southern California. Twenty years ago my husband and I decided that in order to realize our dreams we would have to move. While visiting a friend, we fell in love with Twin Falls. So we packed up and made the move. Flash forward, I now have two sons a daughter, and 5 year old granddaughter named Wednesday, cat and a grand-cat. In my free time I enjoy listening to audio books, podcasts, gardening, going on bike rides and attending my granddaughters sporting events.

As a surgical scrub tech, I am passionate about being part of a team that restores vision and enhances quality of life for patients. Every procedure I assist with is an opportunity to help someone regain independence, confidence, and the ability to see the world more clearly. I take pride in maintaining precision, safety, and efficiency in the operating room, knowing that the work I do directly supports life-changing outcomes for the people we serve.

We’re spotlighting Jess today on our week of celebrating National Scrub Tech Week!

Name: Jess MacDonald
I moved to Idaho in 2012 and it’s my favorite place I’ve lived (I’ve lived in 4 other states). I love animals and we have many rescue furbabies, some with special needs. I enjoy camping, reading, playing video games and going on all kinds of new adventures with my boyfriend. I love listening to music every chance I get and have it playing almost all the time.

My favorite thing about being a scrub tech is that even if you scrub the same kind of cases each day, there is always something new to see or learn. It’s amazing how everyone’s anatomy can be so different!

Here’s another scrub tech we are celebrating for National Scrub Tech week! ✨

Spotlight: Mary Torbet

I grew up in the Magic Valley, so this place is home to me. I truly treasure this beautiful community, neighbors, and friends.

My family consists of my husband of 30 years and our daughter. We are all animal lovers and have 3 dogs that we adore!

In my spare time, I enjoy the outdoors with my family. We love camping, fishing, and hiking. And of course, anything Jeep!
I also enjoy gardening, true crime podcasts, court TV, and a good book!

My favorite thing about being a Scrub Tech is the wonderful interaction with our patients. We live in a great community with great people from all walks of life. I’m proud of the high standard of care we provide to our patients. Along with the gift of better eyesight and better quality of life.

John moved to Twin Falls from Vegas 8 years ago. He has worked at Riverview for 5 years, but has been a scrub tech since 1985! He loves to cook, eat and sleep!

Cataracts are a common problem that affects almost everyone at some point, especially people over the age of 65. But that doesn't mean you have to live with blurry, cloudy vision for the rest of your life. If you've been diagnosed with cataracts, consider cataract surgery at River View Surgery Center.

Our outpatient surgery center can treat your cataracts with a simple procedure. Your surgeon will remove the lens of the affected eye and replace it with an intraocular lens implant. These artificial lenses don't break down over time, making it unlikely they'll need to be replaced. You'll enjoy clearer vision for years to come.
