When Maddie Reed’s parents, Catherine and Stan, could no longer safely live at home, she and her siblings faced a difficult decision.

Her mother’s Alzheimer’s was progressing, and the risks of falls, missed meals, or accidents grew too great. Maddie recalls:

“You cannot, unless you’re a professional, give them the care that they need. I know they would neither probably even be alive without a place like this.”

By moving her parents into a senior living community with both assisted living and memory care, Maddie found peace of mind. Her father could still visit her mother daily, while her mother received the specialized care she needed.

This story reminds us that senior living communities aren’t just facilities - they’re lifelines. They provide safety, dignity, and compassion at the most vulnerable times in life.

On Friday, our Horizon team went to join the residents & staff of Brookdale Senior Living for Assisted Living Week. We had an afternoon of fun including sumo wrestling and shaved ice!

We all shared a lot of laughs & had such a great time!
