At H3O Wellness Interventional Psychiatry, we understand that wellness goes beyond treatment -- it starts with meeting basic human needs. 💛

Food insecurity can deeply affect mental health, increasing stress, anxiety, and depression. That’s why we’re proud to donate $2,000 to Everybody Eats, an amazing organization ensuring that every member of our community has access to healthy, nourishing meals.

We believe that supporting food security is supporting mental wellness. 🌿

Now, we’re challenging other Twin Falls businesses to join us in making a difference! Match our donation and help us strengthen both body and mind across our community. Let’s come together as a community to create a real change. 🤝

The root of control is fear.

And when we're trying to control it's because of the fear that comes with the vulnerability of exposing the parts of ourselves that we don't accept or that are in pain.
It's self-protective.

And we don't accept those parts of ourselves because somewhere along the way we were taught not to; that part wasn't accepted by someone else and we learned that part of ourselves needed to be hidden.
We were shamed out of our humanity.

And that "someone" could just be the larger narrative society is always telling women about how we need to be thin and "nice."

Or it could be a parent who mocked or shamed or ignored you for crying.

Or it could be that you didn't get any love, validation or attention unless you were getting straight As and being the BEST at everything.

Somewhere along the way we learned to reject parts of ourselves; important, human, normal, completely lovable parts of ourselves.

We learned to reject curiosity, anger, sadness, femininity, masculinity, sexuality, creativity, tenderness, being loud, being vocal, being "weird," - there's an endless list of things we were shamed out of expressing.

But if you want to release your need to control, you have to learn how to safely get in touch with the parts of yourself that you're trying to hide.

The EQ School can also send daily texts to your phone - which is great if you're trying to spend less time on social media but still want pointed reminders that help you check in with yourself.

If you're constantly working to be liked by everyone,
you'll be expending a lot of valuable energy, and it will be harder to find the people that you can really count on.

We learn important things about people when we begin to share our limits, needs, feelings, boundaries, hopes, dreams, desires, and pain points.
Not everyone can handle it. Not everyone is willing to respect you.
And when you begin to show up more authentically, you will not be a match for everyone.
And that does hurt.

Not everyone is going to care about what you care about,
not everyone is willing to reciprocate energy and care in the way that you do.
Not everyone is on the same timeline or wavelength that you're on.

And that's great!
It takes all kinds of people doing all kinds of things in all manner of ways to have a vibrant, diverse, growing, changing world.
But to find and say yes to the people, relationships, and opportunities that give you energy and help support you to be your best self in this challenging, ever-changing world, you have to be willing to say no to some friendships, opportunities, and people along the way.

You have to be willing to take off the mask and let people see you.
Yes, sometimes that will result in painful rejection, disconnection, or fall out.
But that's how you find the right people, places, and opportunities.
That's how you know that a relationship is more sustainable —
when you let them see who you really are.
What you really need,
and what you really want.

This is hard for those who have been conditioned to be "good" and "likable."
But I promise, you are still good and likable even when some people don't value your goodness or like you all that much.
This shift will allow you to find relationships that can go deeper and sustain you in ways that the surface level ones never could.

If you're working on shifting how you show up in relationships, the Relationship Management Workshop begins this Thursday - and there are only TWO spots left.
Come learn tools and practice sharing more openly with likeminded people who are also working to open, deepen, and connect more authentically with themselves and others.

This is a perspective shift for many people, and it’s also a sign of improving emotional maturity when we can begin to hold space for these complex and often conflicting feelings and truths.

People aren’t simply “good” or “bad.”
We’re all complex, multi-layered, with complicated histories, deeply ingrained patterns, and, for the most part, I believe we’re all trying to do the best we can.

Which means good people can do bad things sometimes.
But seeing the good in someone doesn’t mean you have to stay in harmful patterns or unsafe dynamics.
It means that we can still see and love them and understand how they came to a behavior, AND not be willing to tolerate that behavior.

Learning to separate out the person from the behavior is a sign of your own growth and maturity.
It means growing to trust yourself to maintain boundaries without needing hate, anger, or judgment.
You’re allowed to have boundaries simply because what you need is what you need.

Remember, boundaries ARE kind.
Boundaries are letting people see you; boundaries are part of how we co-create relationships together, through sharing our limits and needs with one another.
They’re how we build real trust because we can see how people respond when we show them parts of ourselves in naming what we need.

If you’re new to creating the types of boundaries that welcome people in, there is a lot of emotion in this process. The Relationship Management Workshop begins October 23rd. Come learn new ways to navigate conflict, communication, intimacy, repair, and more as you work on deepening your ability to relate more securely in your relationships.
