Today at the State Capitol, we joined physical therapists from across Idaho to advocate for our profession and the patients we serve.
Proposed state budget changes could reduce Medicaid reimbursement for therapy services or limit certain therapy benefits, making access to care harder for those who need it most.
Idaho already faces a shortage of physical therapists, and recent workforce losses in the PT industry have made that problem worse. These changes further challenge our ability to recruit and retain talented therapists.
Most importantly, reducing access to physical therapy through Medicaid cuts is not in the best interest of patients—especially children.
Research shows physical therapy saves healthcare dollars by keeping patients out of the ER, reducing reliance on pain medication, and avoiding unnecessary imaging and surgery.
We’re grateful to represent our patients and our profession and will continue working to ensure Idahoans have access to the care they need.
