A friend asked me this recently 👆🏼

My answer was a resounding YES.
And I wish more women were told this sooner.

Perimenopause can quietly erode resilience — not resolve, not strength, not character — resilience. The ability to bounce back. To tolerate stress. To feel steady. To hold it together.

When hormones fluctuate, your nervous system works overtime just to keep up.

Nothing about this is a personal failing.
It’s biology asking for support. And there IS support to help you get through this phase of life. 🫶🏼

🌀Hormone Chaos🌀

Your hormones in perimenopause? ABSOLUTE CHAOS. 🎢 And here’s why:

As your ovaries start winding down, estrogen and progesterone don’t just gradually decline—they FLUCTUATE. 📉📈 One day, estrogen is surging (hello, anxiety and breast tenderness), and the next, it’s crashing (cue the hot flashes and brain fog). 😶‍🌫️ Meanwhile, progesterone is ghosting you entirely, which throws off sleep, mood, and even your ability to handle stress.

💡 This is why we don’t just treat labs—we treat SYMPTOMS. 💡
• 🔥 Hot flashes? Blame an oversensitive hypothalamus affected by declining estrogen.
• 🧠 Brain fog? Estrogen plays a huge role in cognition, when it’s low you can’t remember why you walked in the kitchen or that word you’re desperately trying to come up with during an important conversation.
• 💤 Sleep issues? Low progesterone means less calming GABA action, which means it’s harder to fall asleep…and stay asleep too.

If you feel off, trust your body. Perimenopause is unpredictable, but you don’t have to figure it out alone. 🤝🏼🤍

The Three Phases of Menopause ✨

Menopause isn’t just a moment in time—it’s a transition through three key phases:

🌘 Perimenopause: The lead-up to menopause, often starting in your 40s. Hormones fluctuate, cycles become irregular, and symptoms like hot flashes, brain fog, and sleep disturbances may begin.

🌗 Menopause: Officially marked when you’ve gone 12 months without a period. Estrogen levels drop, and symptoms like vaginal dryness, mood changes, and metabolism shifts can be more noticeable.

🌖 Postmenopause: The years beyond menopause. Symptoms may improve for some, but long-term health considerations like bone and heart health become a priority.

Every phase is unique—understanding them can help you navigate the changes with confidence!

Do you know the difference between Menopause vs. Perimenopause? 🌙

Perimenopause and menopause are part of the same journey, but they’re not the same thing. Here’s what you need to know:

✨ Perimenopause = The transition leading up to menopause. Hormones start fluctuating, and symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings, sleep issues, and cycle changes can begin—sometimes years before menopause!

✨ Menopause = Officially one year after your last period. At this point, estrogen levels have significantly declined, and symptoms like hot flashes, vaginal dryness, and bone changes can continue.

✨ The similarity? Both can bring hormonal shifts that affect your body, mind, and energy levels—but you don’t have to just “deal with it.” There are ways to feel better!
