CRNA Week is also a reminder of the weight this job carries.
There is a kind of quiet trauma that comes with this work.
The kind that doesn’t make headlines.
The kind you don’t talk about at dinner.
The kind your spouse, your kids, your parents, and even your closest friends will never fully understand.
We see things.
We make decisions in moments where there is no room for hesitation.
We carry outcomes that follow us home, even when no one else notices.
And most days, it happens without recognition, without applause, without space to process it out loud.
That’s why community matters.
That’s why we have to look out for one another.
That’s why checking on colleagues, normalizing the heaviness, and showing up for each other isn’t optional... it’s necessary.
If no one has said it lately: you are not weak for feeling the weight of this work.
And you are not alone in carrying it.
Happy CRNA Week to the clinicians who do this quietly, responsibly, and with more resilience than most people will ever realize.
