As part of National Infant Immunization Week, which falls on the last week of April, NET Health recently hosted "Children’s Fest" in the parking lot at its facility at 815 North Broadway Avenue, offering free vaccines for children under 5.

“We know that during COVID a lot of children and families didn’t go to the doctor, and they didn’t come here either because they didn’t feel safe,” said Sylvia Warren, Director of NET Health’s Immunization's Department. “Because of that, immunization rates started dropping. Children's Fest is a way to make sure those children are getting the vaccines they need and are getting them on time.”

Sylvia Warren said this year’s children’s immunization clinic hosted Tuesday by Northeast Texas Public Health District in Tyler was especially important for families.

This Tuesday April 26th, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m, the parking lot at 815 North Broadway Avenue will host Children’s Fest, an opportunity for parents of babies, infants, and toddlers to ensure their children are up to date on all recommended vaccinations.

Children's Fest will also include family-friendly activities and a variety of health services provided by local health organizations who are partnering with the NET Health Immunizations Department.

Annually, the last full week of April 2022 is recognized as National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW), a national observance to promote the benefits of immunizations and to improve the health of children two years old or younger. Since 1994, local and state health departments, national immunization partners, healthcare professionals, community leaders from across the United States, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have worked together through NIIW to highlight the positive impact of vaccination on the lives of infants and children, and call attention to immunization achievements.

Today is International HPV Awareness Day.

Research shows that vaccination prevents most cervical cancer cases. The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) not only causes cervical cancer in women but can also affect everyone, regardless of gender, by causing cancer in your mouth, your throat, and your reproductive organs.

Vaccination to prevent the HPV virus before sexual contact is the most effective way to protect against HPV and HPV-related cancers.
It is very important that all people receive the HPV vaccine series according to their age-recommended vaccination schedules.

Our Immunizations Department located at 815 North Broadway Avenue in Tyler provides the HPV vaccine during our normal operating hours of 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., every Monday through Friday.
