This week we will focus on a few of the most important tasks for a new amputee.

The most important job you have right now is healing.

Proper wound care is the foundation of your future mobility.

​Keep it clean: Follow your surgeon’s specific cleaning instructions to the letter as well as wrapping and compression of your residual limb.

​Keep it dry: Moisture can be a foe to a healing incision.

​Monitor closely: Look for changes in color or temperature daily.

​Patience in the healing phase means a stronger start when it’s time for your first fitting.
