Andrea Samuels came to our Encompass Health hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana after a stroke and a severe seizure. He was extremely weak, making mobility and walking difficult.

Our therapists worked closely with Andrea, challenging him with obstacles and dual-task activities. With his musical background, Andrea progressed in motor planning and control through drumming sessions. He also enjoyed throwing a football, which helped strengthen his core stability and dynamic control.

Andrea is deeply thankful and becomes emotional when talking about his recovery. We are so proud of you, Andrea, and thrilled with your progress and discharge home!

Bonnie’s life changed when a sudden fall led to a severe stroke and emergency surgery to remove a blood clot. Active and outdoorsy by nature, she faced overwhelming challenges. She arrived at our hospital in Shiloh, Illinois needing significant help with walking and daily tasks.

Bonnie’s determination paired with the support of her therapy team led to incredible progress. She went from using a walker to walking the halls independently. Her therapists helped her regain her strength, confidence and independence.

On her last day with us, Bonnie proudly walked out of our hospital on her own, ready for outpatient therapy and her next adventure. “They keep you motivated and moving,” she said. “I probably wouldn’t have made the progress I have if I had gone elsewhere.”
