Question: "What does the Bible say about energy healing / energy medicine / Reiki?"

Answer: In a world where people are constantly grasping for deeper meaning, deeper spirituality, and a higher purpose, energy healing is one more New Age philosophy that presents itself as very desirable to human beings. Born with sin, we all come into the world with the strong belief that we are the center of the universe—that we are in control of our health, our bodies, our lives, our circumstances, and our destinies. Those who have not turned to God for Truth have no choice but to search for it within themselves.

The practice of energy healing is not in itself a religion, but it is a pathway to one's own spirituality. It leads us on a personal journey that encourages us to focus on ourselves and how our energy is in synch with the energies of the cosmos, the earth, and all other life. Through this, we can supposedly be taught to heal ourselves by using clairvoyance to “visualize” where the negative energy is in order to determine the cause of the problem, whether it is physical, emotional or spiritual.

Reiki, a widely used energy healing technique, was said to have been developed by a Buddhist monk who used cosmic symbols for healing. Reiki claims to work by removing obstructions to the flow of life force energy throughout the body. These obstructions are allegedly caused by negative thoughts, actions, or feelings, which some believe are the fundamental cause of illness. Many even claim that employing this method is the way Jesus obtained His healing power, rather than attributing His power to the fact that He is God.

The use of energy healing encourages us to put our full trust in ourselves and our own bodies, which is a form of worship. For most who participate in energy healing, no recognition is given to the one true God, nor does He receive any praise for healing. The person using these methods of healing has made himself into his own god. Getting involved in energy healing is spiritually dangerous, to say the least.

The Bible tells us that Jesus is the One who came to heal. “Then Jesus said, 'Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest'” (Matthew 11:28). God does not want or expect us to help ourselves. He is the source of life, of all that is good and true. Those who refuse to acknowledge Jesus will never come to a place of spiritual healing. “For this people's heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them” (Matthew 13:15).

Massage Therapy Improves Hip Flexion Range of Motion

By MASSAGE Magazine

Massage therapy can be found at just about any sporting event, from local 10K races to the World Cup, but the physiological benefits and mechanisms of massage are not well known, some researchers say.

So researchers in Canada and Argentina teamed up recently to investigate the effectiveness of three massage conditions on hip flexion range of motion (ROM).

This small-sample-size experiment could prepare the way for larger-scale studies. It involved a novel massage technique, which focused massage on the musculotendinous junction for a short duration, according to a report published on www.pubmed.gov.

Ten recreationally active women ranging from age 21 to 36 participated. The women were subjected to three massage conditions: no massage, 10-second massage and 30-second massage, in a random order on separate days.

Hip flexion angle, passive leg tension and electromyography (EMG) were measured three times before and within 10 seconds after the intervention, the pubmed report noted.

The 30-second massage provided a 7.2-percent increase in hip flexion ROM that was significantly greater than the control condition.

“With a significant increase in hip angle and no associated increase in passive tension or EMG, there is a suggestion that 10 and 30 seconds of musculotendinous massage induces greater ROM through a modified stretch perception, increased stretch tolerance, or increased compliance of the hamstrings,” the researchers noted. “Musculotendinous massage may be used as an alternative or a complement to static stretching for increasing ROM.”

Hot stone therapy is a type of treatment that is used to help relieve stress. It works by placing hot stones onto the body in order to produce muscle relaxation response. It is often considered to be a type of massage therapy since the stones act as a way of applying pressure to the body. This treatment is very relaxing and therapeutic, and is perfect for people of all ages.

Benefits of Hot Stone Therapy

There are several important benefits of using stones as therapy for your face. Hot stones are able to gently provide heat directly into the facial areas that need it most. Different sized stones work well for different sections such as the forehead, cheeks and chin. Those with sinus trouble can often find relief after a stone therapy session. Stones can provide warmth that is provided along with some level of steam. This steam is effective at hydrating the skin while also improving the pores.

Hot Stones to Create Relaxation

Hot stone therapy is the perfect treatment for relaxation. Not only does it relax the muscles, but it also gives you all-over stress relief.

The face is one of the hardest parts of the body to fully relax, so using these stones can really help facilitate total relaxation response. You’ll also note that this type of relaxation technique is also helpful for increasing blood circulation. Many people find the technique so relaxing that they often fall asleep during or immediately after the treatment.

How Hot Stone Therapy Works on the Face

Hot stone treatment uses heated stones that are applied to the face. The stones that are used are typically very smooth, dark river stones. These are stones that have come from river bottoms. They are ideal for heating and using flat on the body. The stones used are small enough so that they don’t feel heavy in any way, but large enough to apply a small amount of therapeutic pressure.

Methods of Massage

The stones are typically heated in water until they are about 93 degrees. Before placing them onto the cheeks, chin and forehead, oil is applied. You may use essential oil that is aromatic to provide aromatherapy while the stones are applied. Then, four stones are placed onto the face. One is placed under your lips, one on each cheek and one on the forehead.

A treatment may last between 30 minutes to one hour in length. To get the most from this therapy, use the time to relax and meditate during the treatment.

The heat from the stones warms the oil, creating a very calming effect. The heat also helps the oil pe*****te the skin. Soon you’ll notice that the tension in your face and in your whole body seems to be lifted. Stone therapy replaces facial massages that traditionally used the hands to massage the facial area. The treatment is very relaxing, not just for the face area, but also for the entire body. It is a good therapy procedure for almost anyone and offers a rather pleasant experience.
