Meet Lauren Beaumont, Commandant at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove since September 2025. She is our featured employee for the month of November!

Lauren comes from a proud military family, including a grandfather who served in the Air Force during the Korean War, an uncle in the Navy, and a cousin who served two tours in Iraq in the Army and was awarded a Purple Heart.

To Lauren, the most rewarding part of the job is helping implement positive change for employees — because “when you have employees who are happy in their workplace, it creates a positive culture for our members and their families.”

Outside of work, Lauren loves spending time in Wisconsin’s Northwoods — boating, UTV-ing, snowmobiling, and riding her own motorcycle.

Her advice to new employees: “Remember what an honor it is to care for our veterans and their families and always be a team player.”

We are hiring! The Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove (WVHUG) is recruiting for two Nursing Supervisors, to serve as PM Shift and NOC Shift Supervisors for our dedicated Nursing team. Position Summary:
Under general supervision of the DON, the Shift Nursing Supervisor is responsible and accountable for the administration and direction of nursing services on an assigned shift at WVHUG and is a member of the nursing management team. Responsibilities include supervising direct and indirect patient care; collaborating in the development, initiation, monitoring and evaluation of programs that ensure quality patient care and appropriate staffing; and ensuring compliance with state, federal and Veterans Administration regulations and WDVA and WVHUG policies and procedures. The incumbent supervises unit employees during assigned shift and is responsible and accountable for the cost-effective utilization of staff, equipment and other resources assigned to Nursing Services.

Yesterday, we were excited to have Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary James Bond and the department’s administrative leadership team who visited with our Commandants, skilled care staff, and our members at our Veterans Home in Union Grove.

Secretary Bond and the WDVA administrative leadership team helped our volunteers in serving lunch to our members and enjoyed spending time talking with them.

In the afternoon, they attended numerous member activities, therapy sessions, and toured the Home including its brand new, expanded kitchen facilities.

Members at our Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove celebrated Veterans Day with a day full of fun and appreciation!

The day included several lively rounds of bingo and the distribution of special gifts – thermal mugs and t-shirts designed by Tina Johnson. Tina and her grandson joined our Recreation Therapist, Katherine Hoffmann, to hand out the gifts that brought smiles to several grateful members.

A heartfelt thank you to Tina for her generosity and thoughtful contributions that helped make this Veterans Day special for our members at our Home!
