Thank you to UCNJ Union College of Union County, NJ for the invitation to join this Women’s History Month panel alongside such remarkable women leaders.

I truly enjoyed connecting with students, staff, and faculty during this college panel discussion, sharing parts of my journey as a mental health professional and encouraging students to pursue their goals with resilience, courage, and purpose.

Moments like this are always a reminder of how powerful mentorship in higher education can be. When women create space to learn from one another, we uplift the next generation and strengthen student leadership.

So grateful for the opportunity 💜

This time of year encourages many people to slow down and reflect on what they are grateful for.

Even though not everyone observes the holiday in the same way, the sentiment of gratitude is universal.

During a recent visit to Temple University, I came across this quote from their founder, Russell Conwell. It stayed with me because it speaks to the idea that our resources and resilience often begin right where we are.

As you move through these days, take a moment to notice what is already supporting you, grounding you, or growing within your own life. 🍂 🤍

Last month got away from me, and that, in itself was a quiet reminder to pause and listen.
So here’s a little quote catch-up: two reflections that have grounded me lately:

💛 One on boundaries as an act of mutual care.
💛 One on self-care as reclamation, not retreat.

These words meet us in the in-between, where we’re learning to show up for others without abandoning ourselves.

You’re allowed to take up space. You’re allowed to step back. You’re allowed to protect your peace.
No explanations needed.

Take what you need and carry it gently. 💛

Forgiveness can be challenging, especially when we hold on to the hope that things could have been different. This hope often carries with it heavy emotions—anger, betrayal, resentment—shaped by the depth of our pain. But true healing begins when we accept the past as it was, without clinging to what might have been. Forgiveness isn’t about forgetting; it’s about freeing ourselves from the weight of past hurt so we can make room for peace, growth, and forward movement.

Oftentimes, we focus on the challenges, barriers, and limitations in our journey, making it feel even more difficult or tempting to quit. While it's important to acknowledge them and plan for the support needed to overcome, we can't let them hold us back.

To help us move forward, we must shift our focus from the negative to positive, constructive thoughts and actions, focusing on what we can control to create change and stay motivated.

Anger, a valid emotion in its own right, is often characterized as a secondary emotion. Simply put, when we feel anger, there may be other emotions also present, either alongside or beneath it.

The next time you experience anger, take a pause. Think of it as an iceberg, with the anger peeking out at the top. Tune in to your feelings and explore what other emotions might be present alongside the anger.

I'm thrilled to have provided psychological insight and therapeutic strategies to address racial trauma experienced by Black youth at the 55th annual Association of Black Psychologists international convention. Oftentimes when people talk about the impact of racial trauma, they focus on the experience in adulthood. Let us not forget about the little humans❤️🤗
