FEDERAL H**P UPDATE

Senator Rand Paul has filed an amendment to the current minibus and continuing resolution to remove the h**p ban language. His amendment is a simple strike that would delete Section 781 in Title VII, Division B.

From Senator Paul’s team, they are planning to seek a vote to strip the offending provision with a simple majority threshold. Timing is uncertain, but a vote could come today.

From the U.S. H**p Roundtable: Senate leadership may not allow a vote. If a vote does occur, it could be this afternoon. Passage is unlikely because of the shutdown dynamics, but a vote would still put Senators on the record and strengthen future efforts to reverse the ban. Remember, even if the ban passed, it would not take effect for one full year after enactment.

What we need from stakeholders now:
• Show up at Senators’ field offices. Be respectful, organized, and bring short one-pagers on why we need to protect the h**p industry.
• Call and email urging support for Senator Paul’s amendment and opposition to any h**p ban.
• Share how many jobs are at risk, how many farms are at risk, and how consumers will be affected. Keep your message short and clear.

• Support the Paul amendment to remove the h**p ban.
• Oppose any language that redefines or bans h**p products that small businesses, farmers, and patients rely on.

If Congress changes anything, insist on clear, science-based standards and a reasonable transition period for compliance.

We cannot afford to sit back and hope for the best. Every call, every email, and every visit to a field office matters right now. Our industry is strongest when we move together, and your voice, your story, and your presence are what keep this fight alive. Stay calm, stay focused, and stay engaged. If we stand united and push together, Missouri will be heard loud and clear and we can protect our businesses, our farms, and the future of h**p in our state.
