February in Maine has a quiet kind of magic. Since it’s the shortest month in winter, it sometimes feels like the in-between of winter and spring. The mornings are slow and silver, but the light starts to linger a little longer into the evenings. The days are still cold, but our barn is warm with sweet hay, and the goats are happy to greet us every morning.

This time of year, we’re especially grateful for them and their gentle demeanor, unique personalities, and even their mischief. We’re also always so grateful for the nutrient-rich milk they give that becomes the heart of our soap.

Goat’s milk is naturally packed with skin-loving vitamins and minerals. It’s full of nourishing fats that create a creamy, moisturizing lather, and lactic acid that gently exfoliates, leaving winter-worn skin feeling soft, soothed, and cared for.

Why use goat’s milk lotion? Goat’s milk helps to restore the skins natural barrier, and is known for helping to soothe and heal the skin. It contains lactic acid, and vitamins A, E and B12. These vitamins help to repair skin cells, reduce damage from outside elements, promote healing, and help soothe redness or irritation.

Our goat’s milk body lotions are made with natural ingredients and never with synthetics or harsh chemicals. We also use nourishing, organic oils that are rich in fatty acids like babassu oil, h**p seed oil and avocado oil, helping to soften and hydrate the skin. The goat milk we use in our lotions is fresh from our very own herd, and we never use synthetic fragrances. Our body lotions are light, non-greasy, and absorb readily into the skin.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and we’re leaning into all things soft and romantic. This is often a time to celebrate and treat loved ones- but we also believe it’s important to show yourself some TLC.

Like all of our soaps, our Rose Soap is made with creamy goat milk, rose clay, and our own blend of essential oils. This soap is like a little love letter to your skin! Enjoy it for yourself, or it makes a perfect gift for someone you adore.

How can you not smile at these friendly, fuzzy faces? ☺️

We started making goat’s milk soap years ago, because we saw the benefits of it at home but found there was nothing like our soaps on the market. We wanted to share something with our community that was gentle, soothing, and made with ingredients that we truly felt good about.

Goat milk has so many skincare benefits: it has a similar pH to skin, which is what makes it so great for people with irritated skin! Unlike other soaps, that may contain harsh chemicals or synthetic ingredients, goat milk helps to not disrupt the skin barrier, offering a gentle cleanse. Goat milk is full of fatty acids and proteins, which hydrate (and create a rich, bubbly lather!) and is rich in vitamins- like A, C, and E, to help nourish and protect the skin.

Just a few quick moments from the soap kitchen! Our soap batches definitely didn’t start out this big- but we’ve grown quite a bit since our humble beginnings. We are cutting up a big block of one of our most popular soaps: Lavender Swirl.

One of our favorite parts of making soap is getting to formulate with herbs, botanicals, and essential oils. Lavender Swirl is made with lavender essential oil, which is highly praised for its aromatherapy benefits. The scent is known to reduce stress. Lavender is well known for its anti-inflammatory properties and can also help calm irritated skin and protect it from free radicals. Our Lavender Swirl soap is also made with an alkanet root infused oil that we make here in the kitchen!

Do you know about our wonderful shampoo bars? They are an amazing alternative to traditional shampoo for a few reasons:

1. Many traditional shampoos are made with ingredients that can be toxic to your body and to the environment- these ingredients act as stabilizers, fragrances, or preservatives. Our shampoo bars are formulated with only natural ingredients!

2. The ingredients we use are truly nourishing for your hair and scalp. We start with goat’s milk, and use hydrating oils and butters, clays, oats and essential oils to create a bar that is cleansing yet gentle.

3. In today’s world, we recognize how important it is to honor the planet and stay mindful about your impact on it. Traditional shampoo is packaged in single use plastic bottles, which can be harmful to our planet. Our shampoo bars are minimally packaged, making them more eco-friendly!
