My name is Melvin. I was a US Navy Fleet Aviation Special Operations Rescue Swimmer and Combat Systems Operator. One deployment in 1988 to the Persian Gulf where I logged over 500 flight hours of Secret missions and rescue operations in the Gulf and Iraq. I am medically retired combat veteran after a rescue injury in late 1988 left me disabled. I suffer daily from a TBI, PTSD, Spinal cord injury and chronic pain. As a result I have experienced the worst of the VA on both the medical and benefits side. I started LVA almost two years ago because I was tired of the hatred that came out of the woods when Pres. Obama was elected. My local VFW was run rampant with loud mouth vets who thought they owned patriotism and loyalty to our veterans. I started by being vocal there and on my Facebook. But soon found I couldn't discuss issues with anyone else without the trolls blowing up my personal page in front of my family and friends. I started this public forum and my objective was and is to prove liberals have the backs of the troops and veterans while the Republicans serve the military industrial complex. In short everything I do is to that point, and now with the election, to be sure a liberal is in office and all of the house. Scott is a retired US Air Force Veteran. He spent 20 years working the flight line on fighter jets and had multiple deployments. Scott retired in 2001 just after 9/11 and before the stop loss. I became a liberal veteran after the Iraq invasion. I couldn't find justification for the war. I just keep seeing personal cuts in the DOD for new toys. The poor pay long hours lack of resources and the GOP attempts to privatize and change the retirement systems have me outraged. I want to help spread the word to veterans and active duty how we are getting screwed without a reach around. Adam was an Infantryman in the US Army and served two tours in Afghanistan. He currently studies abroad and recently got engaged. Congratulations. Jeff was a US Navy Hospital Corpsman. Served one Tour aboard the USS Berkley during Desert Storm. Jeff has experwith helping other veterans obtain there benefits. AJ is an E5 in the US Army and is currently learning to fly helicopters. Joy served in the US Marine Corp and is a retired Marine Chief Warrant Officer 2 from South Carolina. Joy was aviation ordnance for 23 years and retired in 2014. Samantha was a mechanic in the Army for 4 years and met her husband while deployed. Her husband is a medically retired veteran.
