Good afternoon,

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our founder and mentor Mick Womersley. Mick had a special touch when it came to teaching students. Mick supported and guided our members and college students through different challenges and projects - allowing us (the college student and SAR member) to figure out the problem through our own creative mind - while still adding critical guidance.

Mick supported and taught countless members through the 40 years of UCSAR existence. Without Mick this team would not be where it was.

To this - we wish you peace and eternal rest - look out for us who carry on the mission of service to others.

God speed Mick

Good evening Unity College Search and Rescue community. After much thought and consideration we have decided to donate the trailer and all contents (as layed out in our SOPs/By-laws accepted by Unity College) to Unity Fire Department

When we were an active agency we worked closely with our Town of Unity partners and surrounding agencies within Waldo County.

It is with great sadness that I announce the temporary hold and closure of Unity College Search and Rescue.

The last year has been hard for the search and rescue community at Unity College, as we have not been able to meet in person or have training exercises virtual or together. It is my great hope that future students of Unity College will be able to meet in person once again and re-activate and prepare the team to assist both the Maine Warden Service and Maine Association for Search and Rescue.

I can personally say that over my last four years working with MASAR, as a member of Unity SAR, has been both rewarding and educational. This experience I’m sure which has been had by other members, former and current; of which most have continued the public service path in their career today.

I would like to wish MASAR and the Maine Warden Service good luck with future trainings and searches, and a hopeful wish that in the not to distant future there is a operational college team again from Unity.

I hope to all those who follow this page, a good new year and to stay healthy. We will keep this page open and share posts and photos as they come in.

Thank you and Happy New Year,

Craig Millin, President Unity College Search and Rescue; Class of 2021

As the summer winds down, we at Unity SAR hope you had a somewhat relaxing, Socially Distanced summer vacation or did something relaxing.

We would love to see what you did. The Officers of UCSAR have been working behind the scenes to put together some interesting talks and educational presentations for current and incoming students at Unity!

Happy End of Summer vacation, remember to keep learning and have fun.

C. Millin - President Unity SAR
