The High Priestess is our first look at the sacred feminine. She represent the Maiden, young and sure of herself. She holds the book of wisdom and is ready to point to what you need to know. Crowned by the sun and moon, she is skilled in communication. She functions as a go-between for the spiritual and the mundane worlds.
Like many of us when we are young, the High Priestess is sure of herself and her knowledge. This can cause her to act aloof but her instincts are normally sound, based upon logic and knowledge rather than emotion. She's good at keeping secrets, maybe because she has some of her own...
When reversed, The High Priestess goes from aloof to cold. A love of knowledge and logic can become a refusal to even acknowledge emotions and the role they can play. She may think that she knows all there is to know, but true wisdom comes from lifelong learning. She may look down upon those who do not have the same academic credentials as she does.
