Montana Abortion Access Program Montana’s Statewide Abortion Fund The Montana Abortion Access Program (MAAP) is Montana's state-wide abortion fund.

MAAP protects and fosters reproductive autonomy by providing access to abortion care through financial, logistical, and emotional support. MAAP works with folks facing barriers to accessing abortion care, including both Montanans and folks seeking abortion care in Montana. We offer financial, practical (covering the costs of travel, lodging, food, and/or childcare), and emotional support to our clients. We trust our clients to know their bodies and needs best. We are a Montana-based nonprofit and affiliate of the National Network of Abortion Funds.

Some myths just won’t stay buried 👻🧟‍♀️

From fertility fears to misinformation about safety, abortion myths spread faster than ghost stories. But we’re here to set the record straight, because facts don’t die.

Abortion is safe. Abortion is healthcare. Abortion is for everyone. Help us keep truth (and access) alive this spooky season.

Representation matters. 💜

When the media shows abortion with honesty, nuance, and compassion, it changes how we see ourselves and how others see us.

Swipe through for some pop culture moments that got it right. These films and shows don’t just normalize abortion they show why real stories, choices, and voices deserve to be seen and respected.

What’s a portrayal you thought got it right (or wrong)? Drop it below. 💬 Did we miss an important show or movie? Let us know in the comments.

⚠️ What is an Unregulated Pregnancy Center (UPC)?

Unregulated Pregnancy Centers, sometimes called “pregnancy resource centers,” “crisis pregnancy centers,” or “fake clinics” often present themselves as legitimate medical providers or community resource hubs. But their real goal is to dissuade people from accessing abortion care.

There are nearly 3,000 UPCs across the U.S., and most do not offer comprehensive reproductive healthcare.

🩺 Less than half are staffed by licensed medical professionals
🤰 Only about 5% provide prenatal services
💬 Many rely on shame, stigma, and misinformation to delay or block abortion access

Despite appearing “grassroots,” 75% are funded by large national anti-abortion networks like Heartbeat International and CareNet.

If you or someone you know is seeking reproductive care, always verify that a clinic is licensed and provides the services you need. Learn more and find trusted resources. Check out Montanans For Choice () for more info!

💜 In September, we received 78 applications and pledged $26,085 to support 67 clients—our biggest month yet.

Much of this increase is due to a recent court ruling that reinstated a provision of the “Big Bill,” once again blocking Planned Parenthood from billing Medicaid for any of its services. Since Planned Parenthood operates four of Montana's six clinics, including the only one in eastern Montana, many people who relied on Medicaid to cover the cost of their abortion care now have to turn to us for help or travel hours to another clinic.

Even as barriers grow, we’re determined to make sure no one is denied care because of cost or politics. But the demand is rising faster than ever, and we can’t meet it without steady, reliable support.

By becoming a monthly donor, you join a community of supporters who make care possible every day. Your ongoing gift helps ensure that anyone who needs abortion care can access it quickly, safely, and with dignity.

Can you help us meet this moment by joining us as a monthly donor? Info in our bio or at mtabortion.org

Our Story

The mission of the Susan Wicklund Fund is simple: Provide financial aid to people who need abortion care but cannot afford it. Formerly known as Trust Women Fund, we are a small group of volunteers dedicated to supporting the freedom of choice and loyal to a leader in reproductive health; Dr. Susan Wicklund. From 2009 to 2013 the woman’s health care provider; Mountain Country Women’s Clinic in Livingston, Montana treated local patients traveling far and wide across the State, but also the entire American North West, and even some residents of foreign countries. Women traveled this far because of the open practices of Susan Wicklund; she never turned away a patient in need, was willing to see a woman any hour of the day- seven days a week, and the cost was more affordable at her clinic than any other within the state. With the recent loss of this valuable care due to Dr. Wicklund retiring and the closing of the clinic in Livingston, we hope to carry on the mission to help women in need. We believe as Susan does, that no woman should be forced to carry an unwanted pregnancy because of her financial situation.
