Working on the website and it got me thinking. As we prepare for the launch of the virtual clinic, how many people are looking for natural health and ways to stay healthy without visits to the doctor? Are you one of those people that just hate going to see the doctor for the smallest things? What kind of issues would you like to disappear?

When it comes to herbal medicine, it's crucial to use the freshest, cleanest herbal ingredients.

Make sure to find those that are grown in a healthy environment. Avoid herbs next to roadsides, or around where pesticides and other chemicals are sprayed. And I know this isn't thought of much, but make sure its an herb where Fido (or other animals and livestock) cannot p*e or defecate on it. I know....ewww.... but when wildharvesting herbs, one needs to know how healthy the plant and its environment is.

If you aren't wildharvesting, but ordering from a grower or supplier, another thing to do is make sure it was ethically grown. Find out where it comes from (as nutrients found in plants vary from where the plant was actually grown and what nutrients were present in that soil), look at the color, look at the quality and make sure there is no foul smell or mold on the herbs.

There is so much you want to look for when it comes to sourcing medicinal herbs and products. The key is to find the best ingredients as this has the most effect on the health and potency they provide.

True health begins when we reconnect with the Earth. Plants are no exception. As Hipprocrates said "Let food be thy medicine, and let thy medicine be food". So why are we not stocking our medicine cabinets with herbs instead of prescriptions? Why are we poisoning our bodies with chemicals and GMO's instead of eating fresh nutritious food that nourishes? Take a moment to let that sink in.
