Researchers at the University of Rochester Medical Center and the Robert Graham Center recently released a study that showed an 11% decline in the number of practicing family physicians in rural areas between 2017 and 2023. According to the lead author of the study, "The data reflect what we already experience and know about physician shortages, but the year-over-year numbers for rural areas were astonishing to me."
