April is a time to raise awareness, build safer communities, and strengthen prevention.

In Illinois, Erin’s Law requires public schools to provide age-appropriate sexual abuse and assault prevention education for students in Pre-K through 12th grade.

At R.A.C.E.S., we’re proud to support that work by helping schools teach safety skills like identifying trusted adults, setting boundaries, using assertive words, and understanding private body parts.

Prevention starts with honest conversations, supportive adults, and communities that believe children deserve to be safe, heard, and respected.

One truth told makes room for another.

This week, we’ve seen survivors continue to speak out — across headlines, across platforms, across communities.

Each story creates space.

Each voice makes it easier for someone else to be heard.

This is how silence is disrupted.

This is how healing begins.

If you or someone you know needs support, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Did you know that during the 2023-2024 school year, RACES staff provided programming to over 5,000 students in Champaign County?

We were able to reach this many students thanks in part to the support from a Round Up for Good Grant, courtesy of our partners at the Common Ground Food Co-op, and we're thrilled to share we were selected as their recipient for March 2026!

That means that for the entire month of March, you can round up your purchase to go toward creating a safer CU community. Why not cross grocery shopping AND doing local good off at the same time?!
