For a limited time, we've added a few locally distilled hydrosols to our colleciton (with organic cane alcohol for shelf stability)
Due to the plants and distillers we work with locally in Appalachia and North Carolina, our herbs for hydrosols can vary each year or only be availabel in a limited number of bottles. Thanks to Ash at Ritual Botanica and Sunshine at Maple Spring Gardens, LLC for collaboration and distillation and Spiral Mountain for the lavender buds.

Clary Sage: Clearing and soft, with an earthy-sweetness. This unique hydrosol has a tea-like aroma and is a great addition for your body and home to invite a feeling of emotional calmness. Steam distilled by hand with fresh aerial parts at Maple Spring Gardens' herb farm in Cedar Grove, North Carolina.

Holy Basil (Tulsi): spicy and wonderful, with undertones of clove-y bubblegum, holy basil invites you in as facial toner or body mist. May be used to create a cleansing aura on the body and as a refreshing spray for clearing spaces of negative energy. As a sacred herb in Ayurvedic practice, take a moment to meditate while breathing in such a heavenly scent. Steam distilled by hand with fresh flowers and leaf at Maple Spring Gardens' herb farm in Cedar Grove, North Carolina.

Lavender: soft and sweet - a classic. A wonderful addition to your skin care routine for hydration and refreshment, take a big breath in and see the meadow in your mind with this lovely lavender. A fabulous room deodorizer or a way to support calming the stressors with a big breath intake. Grown with love and sweat by Spiral Mountain (spiralmountainfarm.com) and steam distilled with care by hand with fresh buds and stems by Ritual Botanica (ritualbotanica.com).

Lemon Balm: Soothing and slightly sweet, with very subtle undertones of mellow citrus. Lemon Balm is wonderful for general skincare and can be a great addition to your routine. It is especially soothing when paired with our Lavender Hydrosol. Steam distilled by hand with fresh aerial parts at Maple Spring Gardens' herb farm in Cedar Grove, North Carolina

Rose Geranium: sweet fragrance similar to rose water. This is a wonderful addition to your skin care routine for toning and firming complexion or as a body spray. Steam distilled by hand with fresh flowers at Maple Spring Gardens' herb farm in Cedar Grove, North Carolina.

We now have 2 ways to enjoy all the spice down in the roots of ginger.

Juiced from whole Organic Peruvian ginger roots distilled after using the roots in the beverage industry, Ginger essential oil has a spicy aroma and heating sensation. Locally distilled by Blue Ridge Aromatics , a drop or two is perfect for adding a warm touch to your oil, salve, cream or hydrosol. Consider spicing up your home with a drop or two to any aromatherapy diffuser or adding a little in a water bottle for a natural lifting room spray. Intended for external use only.

For a little tasty treat, Ginger Elixir is a delicious, warm, and slightly sweet extract made with ginger root, alcohol, water, and honey. Ginger's many benefits, mixed with a small amount of raw mountain honey, are supportive of both the digestive and circulatory systems. Our Ginger Elixir can be a wonderful winter cabinet staple for encouraging healthy digestion, as well as adding a little warmth and spice to a mocktail or cocktail.

Twice a year, there’s two important celebrations between Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice (Beltane) and again between Fall Equinox and Winter Solstice (Samhain/Halloween and Dia de los Mu***os). Many believe the world between the living and those no longer here becomes more accessible. It is a special time to visit the grave or a place where a loved one who has crossed over frequented. Some light a candle for them or give an offering of their favorite foods. We can do this wherever we are because they are here with us in our hearts. We cook a special meal and put those foods out for them. Although a critter of the woods may have a feast, we like to think they loved the gesture and are smiling, remembering the love we share.

Still Made the Wise Woman Way

Red Moon Herbs handcrafts potent herbal products from fresh, local plants that are consciously wildcrafted or organically cultivated here in Appalachia. To ensure optimum potency, our herbs are lovingly harvested by hand in small batches from plants at the peak of their strength by following the cycles of moon, season, and weather.

Started in 1994 by Corinna Wood and Jessica Godino, Red Moon Herbs has seen many changes over the past 20 years, including incredible growth, two apothecaries, and, most recently, stringent compliance with FDA regulations regarding herbal medicines. In 2012, the directorship was passed to from Corinna Wood to Jeannie Dunn. Throughout these changes, the focus and mission of the business has remained strong and true: to create safe and effective herbal products for the whole family from local, abundant plants.

As a professional herbalist and North Carolina native, Jeannie has been wildcrafting and making herbal extracts, oils, and salves for over a decade. She studied formally at both the NC School of Natural Healing and One World Healing Arts, but her herbal roots go much further back to the back-to-basics lifestyle infused in her as a child. Jeannie picked strawberries, canned vegetables, and pulled weeds from row crops with her parents and three siblings on their multi-generational family farm in Efland, NC. Today, knowing the powerful healing properties of those 'weeds' she used to pull, Jeannie happily uses them in her fermentations, herbal extracts, and fun, medicinal elixirs.
