We now have 2 ways to enjoy all the spice down in the roots of ginger.
Juiced from whole Organic Peruvian ginger roots distilled after using the roots in the beverage industry, Ginger essential oil has a spicy aroma and heating sensation. Locally distilled by Blue Ridge Aromatics , a drop or two is perfect for adding a warm touch to your oil, salve, cream or hydrosol. Consider spicing up your home with a drop or two to any aromatherapy diffuser or adding a little in a water bottle for a natural lifting room spray. Intended for external use only.
For a little tasty treat, Ginger Elixir is a delicious, warm, and slightly sweet extract made with ginger root, alcohol, water, and honey. Ginger's many benefits, mixed with a small amount of raw mountain honey, are supportive of both the digestive and circulatory systems. Our Ginger Elixir can be a wonderful winter cabinet staple for encouraging healthy digestion, as well as adding a little warmth and spice to a mocktail or cocktail.

Twice a year, thereβs two important celebrations between Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice (Beltane) and again between Fall Equinox and Winter Solstice (Samhain/Halloween and Dia de los Mu***os). Many believe the world between the living and those no longer here becomes more accessible. It is a special time to visit the grave or a place where a loved one who has crossed over frequented. Some light a candle for them or give an offering of their favorite foods. We can do this wherever we are because they are here with us in our hearts. We cook a special meal and put those foods out for them. Although a critter of the woods may have a feast, we like to think they loved the gesture and are smiling, remembering the love we share.

Red Moon Herbs handcrafts potent herbal products from fresh, local plants that are consciously wildcrafted or organically cultivated here in Appalachia. To ensure optimum potency, our herbs are lovingly harvested by hand in small batches from plants at the peak of their strength by following the cycles of moon, season, and weather.
Started in 1994 by Corinna Wood and Jessica Godino, Red Moon Herbs has seen many changes over the past 20 years, including incredible growth, two apothecaries, and, most recently, stringent compliance with FDA regulations regarding herbal medicines. In 2012, the directorship was passed to from Corinna Wood to Jeannie Dunn. Throughout these changes, the focus and mission of the business has remained strong and true: to create safe and effective herbal products for the whole family from local, abundant plants.
As a professional herbalist and North Carolina native, Jeannie has been wildcrafting and making herbal extracts, oils, and salves for over a decade. She studied formally at both the NC School of Natural Healing and One World Healing Arts, but her herbal roots go much further back to the back-to-basics lifestyle infused in her as a child. Jeannie picked strawberries, canned vegetables, and pulled weeds from row crops with her parents and three siblings on their multi-generational family farm in Efland, NC. Today, knowing the powerful healing properties of those 'weeds' she used to pull, Jeannie happily uses them in her fermentations, herbal extracts, and fun, medicinal elixirs.
New Directions, Ancient Wisdom
As Jeannie has taken the directorship of Red Moon Herbs β overseeing both the art and the science of this earth-based, Wise Woman herbal business and apothecary β Corinna has stayed involved for support. The apothecary and production studio has moved from Black Mountain to a new location in Weaverville, yet many of the plants are still wildcrafted from their original locations at Earthaven Eco-Village, and the sustainable, earth-centric practices continue to expand.
Under Jeannieβs direction, Red Moon Herbs is expanding to serve more locations locally and regionally, and new faces have joined the family. Click here to learn more about our current staff.
The herbal family at Red Moon is dedicated to the mission of creating potent, high-quality, and local herbal products made the Wise Woman Way, and enthusiastically maintain the companyβs 20-year integrity. We look forward to serving all of our current and new customers with the best in planet-friendly plant medicine for decades to come.
