Therapeutic Verbatim Theatre Project

We invite you to take part in a unique project at NYU designed for graduate students and community members who identify as immigrants, refugees, or those who have ever felt a sense of not fully belonging, including people navigating multiple identities, living between cultures, or finding home in more than one place.

This project will be produced by the NYU Program in Drama Therapy and co-facilitated by drama therapist and professor Heidi Landis and verbatim theatre specialist Anya Zicer, blending creative exploration with personal storytelling. Participants will collaborate to create and perform an original piece of theatre devised through in-depth explorations of lifelong journeys, cultural crossroads, obstacles and lived experiences of movement, change, and belonging culminating in a final presentation in the spring of 2026.

 This weekend’s Psychodrama Directing Intensive is officially FULL and I couldn’t be more excited to spend the weekend diving deep into this work with a group of absolute superstars.
 We’ll be sharpening our directing skills, stepping into leadership roles, and supporting one another through powerful experiential learning. I feel incredibly honored to guide and witness this community in action.

Thank you to the awesome drama therapy students at Concordia University who showed up this week for the psychodrama week long intensive in all the ways. Leaving fulfilled (and tired) from working with these awesome soon to be clinicians and incredible people. It’s been a magical week.
