Fruiting Bodies vs. Mycelium⁠⁠
There is a huge difference between these two parts of fungi. Fruiting bodies are the mushrooms, the bit you see above ground, and that’s where the concentrated goodness is. Below ground, mycelium is a connected fungal ‘root’ system, which is important for the propagation of the mushrooms⁠, but far less potent as far as medicinal properties.⁠

Commercial cultivation of fruiting bodies (especially when grown on wood substrates) is far more expensive, so manyfunctional mushroom products don’t use them. But, fruiting bodies are worth the money, trust us! ⁠
