As the year comes to a close, I’ve been spending time reflecting—not to summarize what I’ve done, but to listen for what quietly shaped the year.

In yoga therapy, listening is a practice. It begins with the body and the breath and allows clarity to emerge without force. Looking back through that lens, a few themes kept returning: the power of language, the value of small, consistent practices, and the importance of tending what we’ve already built rather than rushing to add more.

I’ve gathered these reflections into a Year in Review article, written from December’s quieter pace. It’s an invitation to pause, notice what has taken root, and consider what’s ready to be cultivated next.

When we revisit our 'why,' we return to the heart of balance, the same balance that Patanjali describes in the Yoga Sutras.

🧿In 2.46, we’re reminded that each posture, and each moment, should hold both steadiness and ease.

When we grip too tightly to what we think we should be, our energy hardens.
But when we soften into awareness and reconnect with our why, everything begins to flow again, steady, open, and alive.

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on what it means to stay relevant—not in the sense of being noticed, but in feeling that what we do still matters as life continues to shift and reshape around us.

When you focus on what matters, the path ahead becomes clear.

According to Yoga Sūtra 1.14, practice becomes firmly grounded when it is done with consistency, over a long time, and with heartfelt dedication.⁠

In yoga therapy, we honor this sutra as a reminder that sustainable change doesn’t require perfection—it requires presence. When you align your time, attention, and energy with what truly matters, your practice becomes a source of clarity and strength, even in uncertain times.⁠

According to Yoga Sūtra 2.1, the path of personal growth is built on three pillars:

In a world that glorifies productivity, yoga therapy teaches us something different: that rest is necessary, that clarity comes from slowing down, and that individual well-being strengthens our collective resilience.
