Job Title: Part-Time Volunteer Coordinator Location: 1 West Main Street, Batavia, NY 14020 Status: Part-Time (25 hours per week) Reports to: Executive Director
About CASA for Children:
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children is a nonprofit organization that trains and supports community volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse or neglect. CASA Volunteers make a life-changing difference by ensuring each child’s voice is heard in court and helping secure safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible.
Position Summary:
The Volunteer Coordinator plays a key role in expanding and strengthening the volunteer base through active community outreach, recruitment, and engagement efforts. This position places a strong emphasis on representing CASA at tabling events, attending community-sponsored activities, and building relationships through consistent networking within the community to attract new volunteers.
The Volunteer Coordinator will support volunteers through ongoing communication, training opportunities, and engagement initiatives that promote retention and satisfaction. This individual is responsible for developing and maintaining connections that enhance volunteer participation while ensuring advocates feel informed, prepared, and supported in their roles.
This position is funded through a grant from the Rochester Community Foundation, and continued employment beyond the grant period is contingent upon future funding.
Key Responsibilities:
Volunteer Recruitment & Outreach

Actively recruit volunteers across the community through tabling at events, community presentations, attending interagency meetings and outreach efforts.

Represent CASA at local fairs, expos, and networking opportunities to increase visibility and engagement.

Distribute flyers, maintain community partnerships, and develop new recruitment channels.
Volunteer Support

Serve as a contact for CASA advocates, answering questions and offering support in a timely and compassionate manner.

Read and approve all advocate case notes in Optima to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Complete wellness reports in our system.

Complete notes in our system for advocates when needed.

Attend court hearings to support advocates if requested.
Training & Meetings

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate quarterly advocate meetings and training.

Assist in the onboarding and mentoring of new advocates during training periods.
Advocate Appreciation & Retention

Organize and send birthday and milestone cards to advocates.

Coordinate periodic enrichment activities such as book studies and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:

Passion for CASA’s mission and working with volunteers.

Strong written, organizational and interpersonal communication skills.

Experience in volunteer coordination, recruitment, or nonprofit work is a must.

Comfortable with public speaking and community outreach.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Proficiency with computers and willingness to learn CASA's case management system (Optima).

Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for events or training sessions.

Applicants must pass a NYS background check.
Educational Requirements: Minimum of an associate’s degree in:

Human services

Social work

Business administration

Public administration
Work Environment:

Requires light physical activity for event setup/takedown.

Maintenance Worker
A key position to keeping the lights on and confidently managing repairs to keep buildings and equipment humming! Stein Farms is seeking a maintenance person to help us maintain our facilities. We value collaboration, problem-solving, responsibility, and determination.
Maintenance Worker Job Responsibilities: daily responsibilities include a walk-through of facilities, prioritizing scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting and task-oriented with excellent follow-through. A day may include:
• Works independently or with a team.
• Inspects the buildings, grounds, and equipment.
• Handles necessary repairs and maintenance: carpentry, plumbing, concrete, and electrical.
• Installs equipment and appliances.
• Complies with all company safety regulations.
• Keeps a maintenance log and shares reports.
• Reports any issues to the maintenance manager.
• Responds to repair and maintenance requests in a timely fashion.
• Loads and unloads equipment and tools into work vehicles if needed.
• Follows written and verbal instructions from the maintenance manager.
• Collaborates with the maintenance team and contractors as needed.
• Reads and follows manuals, blueprints, and other written instructions.
• Uses equipment, including power tools, hand tools, electric tools, and plumbing tools.
• Safely operates man lift, mini-excavator, skid steer, and bull dozer
Work Hours and Benefits: This is a permanent full-time position. Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Saturday. Hours are flexible, with a minimum of 30 hours per week. Benefits include paid time off, sick days, overtime pay, and support for certification education. Hourly rate or salary is competitive with experience and skills.
Maintenance Worker Qualifications and Skills: Preferred qualifications and skills. The work will involve manual labor, and we will give preference to these skill sets:
• Handles the physical demands of the job, including standing, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting at least 50 pounds.
• Communicates effectively, speaking multiple languages is preferred.
• Collaborates with maintenance workers, maintenance managers, and contractors.
Education and Experience Requirements:
• At least one year of building maintenance, construction, plumbing, or electrical experience is strongly preferred, but not required.
• A certification in building maintenance is a plus.
• Must have a driver’s license, a clean driving record, and transportation.
