Comfort • Confidence • Protection The SHOWER SHIRT is an award winning, patented, post-surgical water-resistant garment designed by a breast cancer patient to prevent post-surgical mastectomy drain sites (JP/BLAKE) from coming into contact with water while showering. The clinical purpose for this product is to reduce the risk of post-surgical infections, more commonly known as Surgical Site Infections. Many surgical procedures involve the placement of surgical drains, tubes, ports and catheters which penetrate the skin acting as a portal for bacteria to enter wound site. Tap water contains bacteria. Thus exposure to water, while trying to bathe, significantly increases the risk of dangerous post-surgical infections. Patients are routinely instructed by surgeons not to shower until drains/ports/catheters are removed which may span up to three weeks for mastectomy patients, and many months for dialysis and other surgery patients.

Hi friends, it’s Lisa.

The Shower Shirt journey has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Walking beside patients, survivors, and families for more than a decade has changed me forever. Your strength and courage have been my inspiration and saying goodbye is truly not easy.

But today, I’m sharing that the Shower Shirt page will be transitioning to a new team. They will continue this mission with the same heart, dignity, and compassion it was built on.

While this chapter closes, a new one is beginning. I’m pouring my story into my book, Beautifully Unbroken — a look into my cancer journey, the invention, the loss, and the faith that helped me rebuild.
