This is a pretty solid side-by-side of the difference between Directive and Child-Centered Play Therapy. CCPT encourages a child's inner exploration of themselves in more holistic ways that allow them to find their own center and thereby authentic motivations, regulation, truths, accountability (etc.); from their own motivations to grow (vs being directed by the therapist).
In CPPT the therapist is there to help be safe witness, keep the play centered in what is real and contained in ways that don't overly disregulate the child.
Both can be effective - and - having a CCPT foundation informing the session is something that deeply aligns with my own belief in the innate intelligence in children (and all humans). I utilize other play modalities (SPT, Filial, AutPlay) but CCP is always part of every session kiddos
